Re: What's on your Workbench?
It's now a transceiver. Incomplete but it makes contacts.
Added stages include:
* second buffer for VXO
* transmit mixer and post mixer BPF
* transmit carrier oscillator and buffer (which is keyed)
* transmit power amplifier chain and LPF

If you've got a Pixie QRP kit transceiver gathering dust here's now to make it slightly less awful.

Hi Phil,
That's not too bad a price for 250w on 23cm. Do you have a link at all?
Isn't it amazing how bare the pallets are these days, a handful of components and bam - 250w !

Re: What's on your Workbench?
Hi Phil,
Interesting device but the data sheets on the BLF6G15LS-250PBRN show 60w average but some of the graphs show output up to 200w at 1400Mhz
Have you had it going and what sort of efficiency are you getting and what power output.
Looks like a really alternative to the ageing and hard to get XRF286's.
Ive just got a bunch of them going here but not many as replacements if I have an accident

Was going to test today, but got sidetracked....It comes built, tuned and tested...Will keep you posted.
OK just hooked it all up....4W in 53.4dBm out, Id is 14A@ 28V, Idq is 1A......
Cheers

Interesting, have you used them yet as from what I've read most of these aren't "the real thing" and you only get 3db or less gain.VK2XAX wrote: Not that rare - bought some new here....

Ive been using ones recovered from Specten (something like that) amp boards. Two of them in a W6PQL board and 200w of easy power some up to 230w

Re: What's on your Workbench?
Thanks for that Phil, so way more than the 60w average at 200+w nice. Ill have to go looking for some more info. How did you obtain the board?VK4CDI wrote:Was going to test today, but got sidetracked....It comes built, tuned and tested...Will keep you posted.

Re: What's on your Workbench?
Just by chance saw a piccy and had DF1SR on the PCB......emailed Georg and 198 Euro later.........
As you say the '286 are getting hard to source. I have UTsource devices in 2 PA's, 120W is the best I can get.....I am told the Chinese devices are factory rejects.....
Cheers

Re: What's on your Workbench?
In between semesters I made time to finish these. A real world application of APRS for the SES, we use these UHF radios/ArgentData Tracker One, with a bit of tech borrowed from the R/C world. Li-Po battery pack and Turnigy low volt cutoff switch.
At the SES South East Comms Group trailer
there is a Argent Tracker 2 setup connected to a UHF radio listening for the APRS packets from the trackers, connected to a laptop running an interface to OziExplorer. We can live track assets/people, produce tracks for the Police and provide a Wi-Fi link to other OziExplorer clients in range of the AP.
We've also built two portable digipeaters in Pelican boxes to extend the range of the portable units.

Yes handy for filleting fish and cutting your enemies throats
Sharp as a razor, can take the skin off a fish.
Had to check it in the aircraft hold..

Re: What's on your Workbench?
I have an Ulu that the Mrs bought for me not long after we started seeing each other.
It gets used very frequently. Even though it is a bit of a tourist type piece, the odd lick on a steel and an occasional run over with a stone it does its job very well.
I've tried it as a skinner, while it has potential, too many years using normal knives meant it was too slow (All my fault of course).
