G'day All,
Had an interesting interference problem to the low end of 2 meters in Concord NSW. The interference was in the form of an unmodulated carrier that over a period of 7 days slowly drifted from 144.100Mhz to 144.240Mhz, then resets back to 144.100Mhz. The received signal strength was -93dBm (S9). This carrier had a fast worble like FSK sound when listened to with a BFO and a slight hum on FM mode. This carrier was on 24/7. Apart from the slow drift was a stable carrier with a narrow bandwidth.
Using standard DF techniques I quickly located the source of this interference as emanating from a house in the next street.
The interfering device was found to be an overheating Foxtel Modem. This was switched off and a replacement modem install a few days later. No further interference has been received since. I'm ready for the Troppo season now.!!!!

Thanks for the report (good to know re Foxtel modem) and well done with the DFing and good result
The homeowner should be grateful for the prevention of a potential fire
