while thinking about other andriod apps I went looking for an app to allow me to access the raw GPS data on my Desire, I found two, one has the ability to give you your location Maidenhead (Gridsquare) format and the other just lat and long.

Acknowledging you posted this one year ago now, but GPS Status does what you want.
Displays raw GPS data, and can output location in a variety of formats like DM.M, DMS, UTM, Maidenhead.

...and if you want to go better and far more detailed than Google Sky Map with more objects and deeper catalogues, I can recommend Sky Safari. It's not free, but reasonably cheap.

+1 for HamGPS... it's on my Android Galaxy.

But according to official figures the Android : Apple market share ratio is 51% : 43% with the remainder to odd-ball systems.

I'd like to see a QST-specific reading app for Android since it is the majority market share.

This is the free version of an audio spectrum analyzer app.

I'm not quite sure why it took so long, but the QST app is now available on Android.

A bit like releasing a new feature film on VHS 10 months earlier than on DVD or BluRay

This app has the potential to become a handy reference (anywhere/anytime) for something you may have read in the dead-tree version.

I like the way you can either view on line, or download the issue for off line reading.
On first use, the interface isn't that intuitive, but I can see they are maximising screen space for the actual magazine itself.

Good to see the ARRL is embracing the 21 st century.
All of these initiatives can only help engage a much need younger tech savvy demographic into an otherwise dying hobby.

Hi,
In the Google Play store there is an app called "Predict" which gives you satellite tracking as well as Sun and Moon details for when you need to check on where they are or get an idea when to be in the shack for Moon rise.

The Satellite portion of it is quite comprehensive and it can auto populate the list and update Kep elements at the tap of the screen.

The interface is nothing special and is a port of a Linux app from the desktop. After a bit of a struggle I am happy with its operation, it has a screen that shows just the sun and moon (elevation and Azimuth) from a nominated location. It does not make use of the internal GPS for the current location, so you have to define a new profile for places you may find your self checking it, in my case one for Work and one for Home.

I think this app will be a keeper for my casual interest in EME.
