Gippstech 2015

Post by ZL3MH »

Hi, It,s Murray ZL3MH. I am more than thinking of going to Gippstech 2015.
I was going last year but at the last minute before booking the Airfares I
had to pull out. There has been very little on or no mention of the event.
Please enlighten me etc. If I don't book this weekend it will be too late!

Thanks Murray

GippsTech has a reputation as a premier amateur radio technical conference. It focusses primarily on techniques
applicable in the VHF, UHF and microwave bands, especially for weak-signal contacts.
It is almost that time again: GippsTech 2015 will be happening on the weekend of the 11th and 12th of July, at
Federation University Australia Gippsland Campus in Churchill, Victoria, about 170 km east of Melbourne.
Come for one day or the weekend.
A Partner’s Tour will be conducted provided we have suffi cient interest, together with an informal social
gathering for dinner on Friday and a Conference Dinner on Saturday.
Those of you who have more experience and have information to share with others are invited to submit titles
of presentations to the Conference Chair Peter VK3PF as soon as possible.
We look forward to seeing you at GippsTech in early July.
Make more use of that multi-mode, multiband transceiver that
includes 6 m, 2 m and 70 cm! Learn more about what can be
worked on VHF, UHF and microwaves through a two-day immersion
experience by attending the annual GippsTech conference

Sounds like a plan, Murray.

The walk to Coal Valley Motor Inn, although not far, is a bit of a strain if your suitcase is heavy-ish. There's a taxi rank at the station. The stationmaster can call you a cab, too.

To All the ZL"s if you have a 2M hand held you can give us a call once you are in Morwell and if we can help you we will. The local repeater is 146.800 minus offset . The registration form will be on the website sometime next week.

Or, for no extra cost (included in train ticket) you can catch bus route #1 (towards Moe http://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/route/view/5693 ) or #21 (towards Mid Valley http://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/route/view/5701 ) one or two stops.

The first stop on both routes is the Latrobe Valley Law Courts.

Shorten above URLs for journey planner to give itinerary from Melbourne.

Repeaters, Now that we can use our gear in OZ without having to pay
a license ( ZL3MH/VK3 ) I will throw in my Boefeng UV-5RA. Around
the Melbourne area are PL tones used especially the ones around
Morwell 146.800. In ZL, now quite a few use these tones to stop
interference triggering them but the PL tones are not widely
published yet.

Hi Murray,

VK3RMM 147.250, will have good coverage when you leave the airport.
VK3REC 147.175, will have good coverage on the Monash while you travel east.
VK3RWG 147.225, has excellent coverage as you approach Morwell.

None of these need tone, and I don't think you'll be without repeater coverage the whole way. Don't forget to check the repeater database to look for others along the way.

Hi all,

The GippsTech page has been updated to include the Program and some additional information.

Be sure to REFRESH the page!!

We will have ingredients available for you to make toasted sandwiches first thing in the morning if you so desire. All we ask is some gold coins to cover the cost of ingredients. You make them!

We have around 100 coming - so we look forward to seeing you next weekend.
