That better Lou?

From the left, 47, 24, 5/7/10 GHz, on the table are the 3.4->10GHz transverters and IC970H, all locked with a Trimble Thunderbolt.

I'm thinking about changing into shorts ...........

VK3HY had greater plans but will operate from John's Hill Reserve near Kallista for the first 6 to 8 hours of the FD.

Hi Roger or anyone are cw contacts allowed? and are they classed the same as ssb contacts? ( so no separated mode)
also can you make contacts outside your single band but not counting for points eg single band 70cm but make some contacts on 2m and 6m. how are serial number handled with the continuous or separate for bands and modes not your primary also do these log need to be senmt in separately for check log, log matching etc.

Roger there has been some murmurs that the start time was 02:00utc but you clearly state 01:00 in the updated pdf

VK3YFL will not be operating portable for this Winter FD as I'm unwell and I think a day out in the field is probably not what the doctor would prescribe. I may hand out a few numbers from home, but it certainly seems the change of start time has caused some confusion. Good luck to all that venture out.

Steve VK3MEG: CW - SSB - AM - FM all allowed. Only digital is separated, where the signal is generated & decoded by computer software. 8)

I think that definition will have to be tightened-up, next time around.

Start time as published in the Rules on the website and in AR magazine (May issue, page 42). :|

Best wishes to all.

Very quiet around QG62JQ on 23cm. I had a total of 4 contacts for the day, one was a non contest contact, and one was a rework. I did hear several stations, all way off frequency, that I never managed to find. No sign of Grant, 2MAX , but we were both trying !

Never heard a peep from you Rex...been listening most of the day, but I think it's pretty flat...no sign of any tropo. I'm beaconing on .150 till 6pm, then I'll be doing my usual ay 7pm till 7.30pm on .100 I have heard weak signals, but I'm, guessing they are all pointing basically South, or at each other, around the Brisbane area. Trevor was the only BIG signal I hear all day.

Things are going well here fellas. I type this from a tablet thing sitting by a bonfire of logs and stumps etc, bands going from 6m to 23 then 5.7 and 10GHz.
The others here have all bands up to 76GHz but they missed out on 24GHz due to technical difficulty.

Its time to rest by the fire and we have had a nice roast dinner and now a 12 year old scotch or 2.
The field day has been fun as usual, its just below zero at the moment.

Setup at Howells Knob to work Peter VK4EA on the islands. Cold and windy but we got thru except for a Tx problem on 47g at Pete's end.

Nice picture Rex. Can you explain what looks like white cable running to each dish? Also, you have a couple of boxes on the table perhaps some kind of homebrew arrangement. What are they?

Hi Lou

The "white cable" is cable wrapping to keep the interface cables bundled together.

The box on the left is the 10Ghz transverter, then the switch box and GPS reference above it with the FT817 sitting on top.

The switch box allows me to switch between all the transverters from 2.4G to 76G. Couple of pics attached. The box monitors the transverter power out, current, voltage and helps to remind me what IF frequency to use on each band
