VK3RCD Kinglake P25 repeater
G'day all,
I've noticed in recent times, that there's a relatively new P25 repeater at Kinglake and tests show it to be live.
According to the WIA repeater list, there's a reference to a website http://quantarsc.net/index.html for registration. Most of the page buttons appear dead or unavailable. So I'm just wondering if registration is required for users (which I suspect is true, to give a Radio ID a user alias) or if it's just for future repeater owners that wish to link into the global network.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.
Cheers,

Hi,
QuantarSC is the linking system that is used to connect our P25 repeaters globally. We have decided to use DMR-MARC radio IDs as these are well planned out and are globally unique.
To register for an ID to use on QuantarSC, go to the DMR-MARC site here:- http://dmr-marc.net/cgi-bin/trbo-database/register.cgi
The QuantarSC web site is very minimal at the moment as the developer is focussing on back end functionality and stability.
There is also a Google Group where all the repeater owners are contactable, as well as the system developers. There's a wealth of knowledge in there on P25. https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!forum/quantarsc
Hope to hear you on air soon!
Cheers

G'day Matt, thanks for the info. I've now subscribed & registered as per your links and I'll see what happens once it's processed.

Good stuff - they usually don't take too long to get back.
I'll email the WIA and get them to fix the notes on the repeater page - that list has a few other errors too.

I already have a DMR-MARC ID for use with my DMR radio. Can I use this ID on this P25 system as well?
Thanks
Mark

Re: VK3RCD Kinglake P25 repeater
G'day Mark, it's up to you I guess. But as many of us over this side of town have already been using our ACMA client numbers as our Astro ID, we're sticking with that arrangement for use on RGL, RGC, RMU and simplex work. But for RCD use, I've just created another Astro personality using my DMR-MARC ID and assigned that one to the RCD memory channel. Over here, we mainly stick to RGL for P25 use.VK3JMA wrote:I already have a DMR-MARC ID for use with my DMR radio. Can I use this ID on this P25 system as well?

Hi Nik,
can you run to separate ID's on my W3 Astro Spectra???
I added VK3RCD to mine last night as well as TG10100 for that channel but I set my DMR ID (5053042) as the main radio ID.
It would be good if I can set both ID's as you have mentioned.

Re: VK3RCD Kinglake P25 repeater
Just answered my own question.
Set up to astro system personalities, one with my ACMA client ID for all non linked P25 systems and the other with my DMR-MARC issued ID for VK3RCD.
Now to just wait and listen and see how it all works,

Re: VK3RCD Kinglake P25 repeater
ACMA client ID was only ever a suggestion, and it's not the best solution.
ACMA newer client IDs have more digits than a P25 RID field permits, which leads to non- unique IDs.
DMR IDs are unique, geographically referenced and allocated as needed. It solves all the issues with using a client ID.
Of course as long as you ID yourself correctly by voice or embedded data you are covered by the radcom act, but the DMR ID scheme was designed for a purpose, ACMA client IDs are not. For example, a Client ID does not correlate to a Callsign, which in turn does not correlate to a license.
