2.5mm copper wire

hi all, Im making some coils and was looking at a source for small lengths of 2mm and 2.5mm enameled copper wire.Does anyone know a source in Australia for this diameter wire

I got some from Jaycar but that was a few years ago now.

The local component suppliers only go to 1.25mm these days.

Are the coils being close wound? If not, how about using solid core house wiring cable.

Otherwise, the next best bet is motor rewinders.

Thanks Wayne and Tim, Jaycar only go up to abt 1.0mm now solid housewire might be the way to go

Wayne, I have seen similar posts in the past and then, the answer was .... check out any local auto electrician. If they do starter motor etc rewinds they may have some of this gauge.

Hi John there used to be a motor rewinder in Maryborough but he retired. Found a jewelery wholesaler that has 2.1mm might do the job

I have more 2.8mm solid copper wire than i can poke a stick at.. How many mtrs do you want ? Im only across the ditch so no problem sending some.
I recently built a 1-2kw LPF for my new 1Kw FM broadcast PA and it just gets warm to touch at full snot. 8)

Try googling "magnet wire" and select "Australia" in the search tools, there are a few there if all else fails.

Another good one is refrigeration suppliers.They have packs of capillary tube in differing sizes. The local Aussie company Heatcraft have them on the shelf over here. Link to the branch locator. http://www.heatcraft.com.au/contact-us/locator

Would never have thought of looking at these guys..but then again I don't work in that area :lol:
