Just a quick note to the 6m FM enthusiasts that the VK5RSB 6m repeater on 53.750(-1MHz) in Adelaide atop the Mt Lofty Ranges is currently off air due to antenna failure.
AREG members are currently deciding on a suitable replacement and are planning repairs. No ETA for when it will be back in service yet.

A replacment antenna has been found. its a second hand ex military 5/8 antenna.
Its fully grounded with ground plane radials "heavy duty"
Im hope this week will be a good week to rig it.
We had not feed back from any antenna manufacturers to date either.

Re: VK5RSB 53.750 6m Repeater in Adelaide OFF AIR
6M repeater is up on air again.
Replacement stop gap antenna fitted, SWR a bit to high.
60watt PA put back in, getting 42 watts on the antenna side of the cavities.
Antenna is a ringo 1/2 with ground radials. 40m run of LDF440.
May have to consider CTCSS on the squelch circuit, or a way of switching it in on QRM. There seem to be some QRM from
some one crappy charger near the repeater site. See how this pans out.

Unfortunately the VK5RSB 6m repeater is down again.
The club is currently getting quotes for a new antenna as the temporary one had VSWR that was just a bit too high for the PA. We are working to restore service as soon as we can.

What are you doing with your antennas Grant? We had a 100ft tower collapse at Griffith on Monday and our 10+ year old BA40 survived and swept perfect... sadly our dual polarised yagi wasn't so lucky when the tower landed on it... they just don't make antennas like they used to!

The new antenna for VK5RSB 6m has finally arrived. Plans will be made soon to install it and recommission the system. Stay tuned!

Might pay to build a Flowerpot antenna and leave it at the site in case you have future problems.
