G'day.
VK9ZYX was QRV from Cocos Keeling from 1981-83.
I am looking for more precise start and finish dates for this operation.
Can anyone help me out please?
Info required for Club Log.
Tnx & 73

An interesting history of amateur radio on Cocos-Keeling lslands appeared in 73 magazine August 1984. This mentions VK9ZYX.

A copy of doubtful quality appears at: http://archive.org/stream/73-magazine-1 ... 4_djvu.txt

It may be possible to get a better version at: https://archive.org/details/73-magazine

That would be me Alan,
I was employed on Cocos (Keeling) Island from approx April '81- April '83.
Besides a couple of 2m QSO's with a member of the Clunies-Ross family on Home Island, all other QSO's were on 52-54MHz.
With 6m I worked about 800 J's and I think I had 2 QSO's each to VK8 and KH6.

If I can help with any further info just ask, though I don't have any Log books from then anymore.

Hi Mike
Thanks very much for the info. I have updated Club Log with that info.
If you have a Club Log account (it's free to register) you can view the info/note at
https://secure.clublog.org/test.php?call=VK9ZYX

One last thing - I have a fairly poor image of the VK9ZYX QSL card sent to me by a JA.
Do you still have a card that could be scanned (back and front) to replace the one currently displayed in Club Log?

Thanks again.

Mike Bealle was there when Bill Poelmitz VK9YM and I went to island for the CW dxpedition in FEB MARCH 1982
We borrowed his QTH and he went R and R to VK6
Then he moved back to VK6 and then on to VK8 to Derby/Wyndham
So think he arrived late 1981 as he was not there when I was there in 1980 on way to VK9XT
and he left by early 83.

Logger says

Previous callsigns
VK6ZLL (78-81),
VK9ZYX (Cocos Keeling Is. 81-83),
VK6ZYX (83-85),
VK8ZYX (85-94),
Off air (94-07),
VK6ZYX (07-08).

I thought he was still in VK6 but a search doesn't reveal his name

Sorry Alan, I don't have anything from the time.

Steve VK3ZAZ (VK9YT), would you have a copy of my QSL card?

Steve VK3MEG, I didn't get a msg. I thought I had an email address on QRZ - now rectified

I will try to scan it in but it is covered with a glad wrap type of platic so may distort

Have you solved the club log problem for consequitively issued callsigns yet?

If so you could have my VK9YT and VK9XT and VK9XI logs

Cress Pelham-Thursby was living a Perth a few years ago.

He had a kenwood 570d for sale in the early naughties, maybe around 2003 or so.
