Nick 3VFO,

Can you give us your exact expected location, so that we can do some planning for working you on the higher bands. We have struggled above 1.2 Ghz in the past and (hopefully) this time we can improve on this. We are in QF22DM15.

Cheers

Nick,

Mirboo North has always been difficult for us. Mt Tassie, on the other hand, we have worked Ralph from there all the way up to 10 Ghz.

Remember our bearing from you is quite different to the other stations, 3ALB, 3KQ and 3UHF at 300 degrees.

The others are more 274, 276 and 288 degrees respectively - a big difference on 1.2 GHz and upwards.

Hope to hear you!

Cheers

Hi All ,
I will be operating portable from Mirboo North in QF31CO (this is a good location nice and high with a good outlook in most directions and no noise.)

Hello all
I am also unable to participate in the field-day on Saturday
I am planning however to go to Howells Knob on Sunday morning. I intend to take my 10 and 24 GHz gear out for some more practice on both bands and hopefully extend my PB on 24.
It is likely that Phil 4IIO and Peter 4EA will join me.
I gather SSC club is not officially activating this contest and hope my efforts will not crowd in on Robert 4LHD either

I will have 146.550 FM simplex and local repeaters for liaison and HF SSB from the car if necessary

A very humble operation from Mt Mee, north of Brisbane. Operated on 2m and 70cm...and enjoyed the view...and explained to the locals what I was doing with these curious bits of metal and a radio.

Windy. With some wind at vk3er yesterday afternoon.

We didn't have the big rain storms and lightning that the Geelong region people had however. We were lucky with that

And some running repairs to the microwave trailer, some cosmetic issues only. That we were able to overcome.

Activity as heard and worked from a local pier. Poor conditions/activity from VK1/2 but some good signals from VK5.

Peter (VK3YE), was that sand or salt appearing on the top of your FT-817? Love that portable mast - $49.95 from Jaycar, complete with base plate and guy wires. Guess where I am going this week? :D

Had next to no time avail to participate in the Spring VHF/UHF Field Day this weekend, but was able to have a little fun setting up on 2.4GHz in the court yard in front of the shack. Here's a few of the highlights.

Sand. Looking a lot better after the appointment with the vacuum cleaner.

my second semi serious fieldday with a reasonable station had lots of fun 74 contacts so getting there not as much dx stuff as i would like but some nice longer contacts.
understanding how things are done and having fun with the relaxed atmosphere. and pulling some stations out of the mud is always fun for me. its would be great if some of the portable stations helped by going to 52 mhz. other wise good there are a few of us standards who are starting to play and its hard when your band limited.
only 3 bands worked 6,2,70. only 7 contacts on 6m admittedly not much of an antenna 2 element yagi here but no point investing in a better one if there is no net gain.
cheers
