One of our local electronic suppliers has a roll of the following cable gathering dust and prepared to sell it cheaply. He had no idea of its specs or possible use. KORDZ Quantum-SD Silver serial digital interconnect.
Would it be useful around a ham shack? If so I will go and make an offer he cannot refuse

Is this a useful cable?
Re: Is this a useful cable?
Does it have a number printed every meter or so along it's length ?.
I suspect it might be shielded or unshielded serial cable multi core ?

Re: Is this a useful cable?
No number that I can see. Single inner conductor silver plated, dual shield - braid and foil. Dark blue plastic cover. Looks very well made.

Re: Is this a useful cable?
If you have a picture of it with the layers stripped back. I sounds a lot like RG214 or RG223 depending on the diameter.
Never through anything out, everything is useful. I thought you said you were a ham?

Re: Is this a useful cable?
It sounds like SDI cable - as it says. If so it is high quality 75 Ohm video type cable intended to carry serial digital video at bit rates up around 220Mb.
Probably not a lot of use for Ham radio. Buy it then go and hock it off to your local TV studio.
