Diplexers where to put at radio or on mast

hi sorting my 2m and 70cm station i'm using a diplexer wondering where the best place to put it on the tower or near the radio my thoughs are tower with the low loss cable etc the run is 25+ m so dont really want to double up.

sorry for the simple question but better to ask i always say

Hi Steve

Most if not all Diplexors i have seen arent water proof. Normally they are in the shack and it saves an additional cable run as I assume you have a dual band higain collinear witha single feedline back to the shack.

Depends on which way round you are using it,

One antenna (dual band) to two radios - then use one low loss cable to unit in shack to both radio's.

OR

Two antennas to one radio - then use at the antenna in a water proof box, that way can still use only the one low loss cable to the dual band radio.
