Ham Radio promotes tourism in the Cook Islands

Post by ZL1RS »

A nice article in the Cook Islands News written by Andy E51AND linking Ham Radio to tourism promotion ... with Jim E51JD's cheery face in the accompanying photo.

Have a read and maybe leave a comment ... the CI News is well read there and a bit of 'publicity/awareness' about Ham Radio as an aspect promoting their tourism industry (which the country relies heavily on) can only do good.

Presently the article is #1 in the "Most Read" list on the CI News home page.

Having had a few beers with Andy and Victor and his lovley wife in a few of the local bars around the island I'd say visting CI is a great thing to do.

You are certainly popular when you call CQ with an E51 call. I worked the world on 20M with a budipole in the water and my FT 857D plus a car battery lent by Victor on the beach in front of our resort one night. Had an absolute ball.
