I heard some discussion on the repeater. I don't recall the s-meter registering, and there was a bit of noise, but could copy mostly OK.

Hopefully once Andrew gets the antenna further up the tower it will improve greatly.

There were a few of us on 1296.100 USB at 8:00 PM. I heard VK4WR, VK4KLC, and spoke to VK4CZ and VK4EA. There were others I could not hear. The issue that I (and others) had was with the narrow beam width of the antenna were are using.
I use a grid with 18 dbi gain - it is very directional. My antenna rotator was doing overtime

Not sure how we can solve this issue, as most of use are using a highly directional antenna that needs to be pointed the right direction.

Perhaps start on the repeater, than move of to SSB?

If you haven't already done so perhaps consider a net controller. One of you must be in a position to hear everyone else. They could ensure you all get a shot at each other.

VK2RWI It's been noted by stations that are reference locked. I'm guessing their repeater is not. The chirpy beacon at the same site probably not either.

Never worked anyone on 1273.5 Brisbane repeater, and yes, I have called. (have a 23cm handheld). Similar situation to 52.525 mobile..

I like the idea of meeting up on the 1273.500 repeater first, does 8pm suit most for this Wednesday night? Hopefully Rex will hear us with his new preamp this time

Will make an effort to be on 1296.1 from before 8pm, running approx 20W into 25 el loop yagi Horizontal. Might even bring the FM portable out on the way home on 1273.5 FM repeater, which I can't hit from home.. (last time I tried).
