VK8VF Beacons Off Air.

Post by VK8MS »

Please note that the VK8VF Beacons on 50.310 & 28.268 will be off air as the Darwin Amateur Radio Club Inc. are in the process of setting up new club rooms at Brandt Road Knuckeys Lagoon which is the opposite side of Darwin from Fannie Bay (S/E) which has been the home of DARC for 30 years. Unfortunately the NT Government have decided to sell the site to private developers which forced the club to find a new home which is not so bad as the new site at Knuckeys is on bushland reserve which has existing buildings used by NT Scouts (Berrimah Group) and other associations also will be much quieter.
The D.A.R.C. have plans for tower installation & associated masts to have the Beacons and associated equipment back up and running in approximately 8-12 weeks.

I hear VK8VF often on 10m it will be missed. I am also aware that it takes someones time to move everything, local radio groups money and delays in paper work to be back on air..
Looking forward to hearing that CW again soon.

Good Afternoon all,
The Darwin Beacons VK8VF on 28.268 & 50.310 are now back on air from a temporary location until the Darwin Amateur Radio Club Inc. get new Antennae installed at new club location which is anticipated now to happen in a few weeks time which is great news to have these back on air so soon after moving.

A big thanks to the members for making this happen.
