Hi,
Working on a a dead HP Spectrum Analyser.
Has anybody worked on non functioning YIG oscillators?

Re: YIG Oscillator repair
Allen, I don't know about non-functioning YIG's, but there is an excellent writeup about using them on John KE5FX's home page here...
http://www.ke5fx.com/
YIG's have two coils in them... a tuning coil and a modulating coil. Thus there are usually two voltages applied to the YIG. Once you establish the connections for it, check power supplies to it.

Hi Bruce,
I should have said YTO... anyway, slowly working through a HP 8562E.
Thanks for the link. Quite helpful and quite good reading.
Took me back to my design days to see phase noise measurements. Still remember my design targets:
136 MHz to 174 MHz, PN -136 dBc/Hz at 50 kHz offset.
