VK3 Microwave Day 10th March 2014
VK3 Microwave Day 10th March 2014
Hi All,
Monday 10th March is Labour Day holiday here in VK3 (and I believe in VK5).
A group of us are heading out to different high spots to operate our Microwave gear, and would welcome anyone with gear that operates at 1296Mhz and above to take part.
The event will kick off around 8.30am local time, and normally goes for several hours.
We will start on 1296MHz for the first 30 minutes and then can move on to other bands. 144.150 will be used as the liason frequency.
I will operate from Arthurs Seat, and will be looking to give my latest transverter (5.7 GHz) a real test out.
So look forward to working a many of you as I can.
Michael VK3KH

Hi All
Depending on conditions (Hepburn) I will operate from either Mt Wellington or the North coast of Tasmania on 10 and 24 GHz - SSB and JT4f.

Re: VK3 Microwave Day 10th March 2014
Providing weather conditions are suitable I hope that several of the SERG members will go to our Field Day location ( QF02GG) & operate on 1296MHz, 2.4GHz possibly 5.7GHz & definitely will have 10GHz, with reasonable power on all Microwave bands.

Re: VK3 Microwave Day 10th March 2014
I'll head out into the field, probably to my usual field day QTH in the hills 15km west of Geelong, QF21CU. I'm still thinking about which bands to take, but if there is enough interest in each band, I can do 2.4GHz through to 10GHz.

Excellent initiative Michael. Who is in the group and where will they be and what bands can we expect from them?VK3KH wrote:Hi All,

Location undecided yet but I will have 2m, 2.4, 5.7 and perhaps 10GHz.

Thanks for organising this Michael . I will operate from John's Hill Reserve near Kallista: 144.150MHz (liaison) 1296MHz & 10.368GHz

Oh, Lou , you are such a literal fellow. This is no one group goung out together. Most of the group have commented already, and have indicated which bands.Excellent initiative Michael. Who is in the group and where will they be and what bands can we expect from them?

Hi All,
Also hoping to take part ( wx permitting) 1296, 2.4 and 10G....3.4G still under construction but you never know I may get it done.

Hi All
Yes a holiday in VK5 as well.
I'll be portable "Hack Range Rd" PF94ju 492m ASL from early morning - Bands to 24 GHz, JT4f & JT65 as required. Hopefully good condx and we will check MEL <<>> ADL flight times so AES is more than random this time![Smile :-)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Liason on Logger + mobile 0418800534
Cheers

I'll be out with Chris VK3ACG on Monday. We'll be half way between Winchelsea and Colac in QF11VS with 2m, 2.4GHz, 5.7GHz and 10GHz.
I'll be contactable on 0411 860 402

I expect to be set up and ready to go from 8:30AM local in QF21CU (15km west of Geelong). I'm taking 2&70 for coordination and 2.4 through to 10GHz for the serious stuff. No 23cm on this occasion. No logger either, but I can be contacted on 0458 994 495. I'll also be monitoring 144.150 and 432.150 most of the time.

Hi All,
I am heading to Ferny Creek on Sunday to set up. Should be good to go on Monday early. Have got my new 2.1 Meter dual feed 1.2 & 2.4 dish to test.
I will be quite high up with good take off. Can take 5 & 10 Ghz for some extra activity.
Will take the P.A.s 150 on 1.2 & 80 on 2.4

Damian,
Please do take your 5.7 & 10 GHz gear. It all adds to the activity. I'm still in awe of your signal strength during the Summer FD. I won't have 23cm, but we can take it as read that your signals will be pretty strong!
Just a heads up for those reading this.....I expect to be on location by Sunday evening before dark. Arie VK3AMZ will be joining me. We'll be set up on all bands, 2 & 70, and 2.4 to 10 GHz well before nightfall. We will certainly be looking for contacts on these bands before the uwave activity gets going.

Hi Everyone,
Well all is looking good for Monday. There are lots of stations indicating their intention to be out.
Received this info from Col VK5DK:
My location details can be found on the Logger User Info umdr VK3KH/p.

I will be on Arthus Seat, and plan to be ready by 8.30am. Liason is 144.150 MHz. Looking forward to testing my recently finished 5.7GHz T/verter which now has 5w o/put.Michael I think the Test Day is still on for Monday, if so I plan to go to our hill top for the morning.
Plans are to take 23cm, 13cm, 6cm & 3cm gear for the test, not sure if we will be setup by 0800 CST, & will have 2mx liason , possibly 144.150MHz. All Microwave gear will be GPS locked, although may not use GPS on 23cm as it is very stable frequency wise.
Pass this info on to others that may be interested to try to work into VK5.

Qsl Chas,
I had better be up early. All packed up. Was going to head up this afternoon but some mods to my 2.4 kept me here.
All should be good oh. I will have 1.2, 2.4, 5 & 10. Looking forward to the activity.

Re: VK3 Microwave Day 10th March 2014
Thanks everyone, an excellent morning of activities. I think we worked everyone on the list except DK on 5.7 and 10GHz and KQ. That's got to be better than leaving the transverters on the shelf to collect dust.

Re: VK3 Microwave Day 10th March 2014
I went up Mt Wellington to QE37oc on 10 GHz only and was pleased to work VK3PY, VK3AMZ, VK3HY and VK3MQ.
Re: VK3 Microwave Day 10th March 2014
I went to Mt Buninyong in company with VK3KG, VK3AIG and VK3KQT. Had 23cm, 13cm and 3cm and had good contacts on all bands but unfortunately no
long distance stuff. I reckon that propagation was not quite as good as on previous occasions. However as has already been said better than being
at home and a good chance to blow the cobwebs out of the microwave gear.
Thanks to Michael and others responsible for organising today.
