Yesterday I was able to work Lou VK3ALB from his 2m mobile rig in the NE corner of QF13 while he was passing through.
Lou is only running about 5 watts into a converted CB whip. The distance was 300 Km. I thought this was pretty good all things considered on the day.
Lou sent me a photo of the spot where he worked me, at an intersection near a place called Durham OX, Victoria.
Thanks Lou.
Excellent mobile 2m FM QRP simplex contact yesterday

An unexpected bonus during a relaxing country drive. Thanks for the contact Leigh.

Hmmm... That car doesn't look like it's carrying a converted CB whip - more like the rare and difficult to tune "Bovine Cloverleaf", or "Boverleaf" - guaranteed 1.5db better than the standard "Cloverleaf". Windloading is a bit of a drag, but people get advanced warning because (wait for it) it has two horns.
