Where to buy RG213?

Post by VK3OHM »

Looking for a cheap source for a 100m roll of RG213. Best I've seen is $229 (+freight) from Academy TV. Does anyone know a better source ?

You might try http://www.rojone.com.au/
I've never dealt with them directly, but the coax I've bought all seems to come from them anyway...

Buying cheap RG213 is an oxymoron -

However Rojone's price will be competitive with a good grade of coax

The trade price from WES in Sydney is $219.00 for 100M. I'd say the $229 price is OK.

Mark,

Weigh up your options, if you are happy to change it every few years buy it. If you want quality avoid it...but in saying that I have come across worse stuff. I had a look at the 213 I purchased from them 2 years ago just on the weekend and the copper inside has turned black....I got 8m down the coax and it was still black so I gave it the old heve ho.

I've heard good things about rojone.

I would go for LMR400 instead.

What's the intended use ?
I personally prefer rg214 or a good Beldon like 9913 , I get mine from the local and lousy and hungrys on account who buy it and sell to me from the wholesaler at my buy price there saving freight
Cheap and good , pick one

just had a look and there is a Maddisons wholesalers near you well worth a call

Whilst I rarely buy brand name just because "it must be better because it is brand name" I do wonder about the quality of these copies/rough equivalents - can anyone confirm if this cable is indeed the ifdentical equivalent of LMR400? I am almost at the end of my roll of LMR400 that I picked up very cheap at an auction and have been looking at other options to restock - and this 200m roll for $400 of CFD400 looks to be a very attractive option for this.

In summary, is it identical in both performance and size (i.e. to suit the connectors) as LMR400?

You pay for what you get , always ready for a deal I have found anything exposed to the elements or using rf needs to be a known cable , there is a reason a roll of coax can vary so much in cost when you examine it , I tend to buy Beldin and a few other brand names and have done for several decades commercially as replacing the stuff due to the insulator going soft and runny or leaky is a pain :)

ok this thread is over a year old now. Has anyone any conclusions as to whether CFD-400 is a reasonable coax and similar to LMR400. I am guessing at worst it would be better than RG-213.
