S/E QLD: R&DRC Tech Talk - Microwaves Mon 16/9

Post by VK4GHZ »

Redcliffe & Districts Radio Club (R&DRC) has "Tech Talks" on the third Monday evening of each month.
We start rolling up around 7pm for a cuppa and chin wag, and talks generally kick off around 7:30pm.

September Tech Talk is by well known microwave guru, Doug Friend, VK4OE.

Non members are more than welcome to come along and join in.
Facilities available include a kitchen with tea & coffee.
Soft drinks and chocolates in the fridge available for purchase (which helps fund the running of the club).

R&DRC club rooms located at MacFarlane Park in Klingner Rd, Kippa Ring.

Did anyone happen to take a video of Doug's talk on Microwave. I wanted to get down to it but was unable to attend.

Thanks Mark and others.

It was great having an interested and attentive audience there at Redcliffe, but right now I really want to acknowledge the huge behind-the-scenes effort that Adam VK4GHZ has put into editing and producing the video record of the talk.

What a tremendous job he has done of superimposing images from my PowerPoint onto the part of the image where the screen was. It makes it "look like a bought one"! You can see at a couple of places what the camera actually recorded of the screen - not really useable, eh? Adam has been through most of the footage getting it to look good - and, in case folk think that's just an easy exercise, it really is bulk hours of editing he has done. That's dedication to the cause of getting the "microwaves are feasible" message out there to more and more radio amateurs - thanks Adam!

Here's hoping that through the video and contact with other enthusiasts, more folk in various areas will start to give amateur microwaves a try!

Best wishes and 73,

--Doug Friend, VK4OE.

He's a clever boy. I did look at that and wondered how he managed the sync between the projector and camera.

An excellent job and excellent presentation.
