Hi all
Just wondering where you have purchased your Freescale LDMOS devices from?
There are plenty of horror stories out there regarding XRF-286 etc devices from [notably] Chinese eBay suppliers, being duds.
I can Google suppliers for myself, and some only offer an invitation to provide a quote.
So who have you have a good purchasing experience from, where the devices actually work?
Simple question.
Simple answer?
Trusted Freescale Semiconductor suppliers?

Adam,
I also have this one under invetigation.
I have purchased 3 MRF-286s and will run up each in a driver config for 1296 MHz.
My reading indicates many folks have problems with output matching regardless of the supplier of the transistor.
Comment sby some kit suppliers that the board layout (output matching ) has been modified seems to point to this being the problem area.
This one is lined up after the SSPA for 70cms.
Let you know once I ahve a result.

Philips LDMOS BLF578
Hi all.
I have been looking about for a device for a high power amp. Originally I was focused on the MRFE6VP61K25HR5 freescale device but the thought of beening shafted on the price has put me off.
Currently the BLF578 is 114 Euro plus 6.5 euro for shipping to NZ. It almost falls into the " too good to be true" catagory.
120.50EUR/ 194 NZD / 172 AUD or 163 USD.
Best price I can find for the MRFE6VP61K25HR5 is $209 USD not including post. Highest has been $1100 USD

Adam (and others)
I understand the MRF / XRF286 is no longer in production so we have to rely on the surplus market. From what I understand you can trust the ones you harvest yourself, or by sellers who follow anti-static procedures like PyroJoe and W6PQL. It is hard to know if there was a bad batch circulating or not several years ago.
My XRF286 devices came from UTSource, but the jury is still out on their performance as I need to machine the copper heat spreaders. I have had success with new power blocks from that seller (4 different Mitsubishi Mosfet types in the RA series). The summer season is creaping up so I need to get a into g on that project.
For sourcing of parts from official suppliers (Digikey, Mouser, E14 etc) I highly recommend you try the following search engine which was recently mentioned on hackaday:
http://www.findchips.com/
NB. Nice find on the BLF578 price Mark. I might keep an eye on that listing when my 2m QRO plans start to come together.
