Re: New Zealand Licence
Try www.nzart.org.nz first that web site covers all the details for the Amateur radio enthusiast in that part of the world.
Having said that, strike the iron while it's hot & upgrade, that way there's no need to worry.
Keep up the enthusiasm & go for gold!!!
Try this one too... http://nzart.org.nz/nzart/rsm-med/

Re: New Zealand Licence
There is an overseas licence "transfer" system ... see the bottom of section 2 in:
http://www.rsm.govt.nz/cms/pdf-library/ ... y-2013.pdf
Best to contact NZART HQ via e-mail (nzart@nzart.org.nz) and Debby will set you right.
If you do need to sit the "Ham Radio exam" here, it is not hard. Contact an active Branch of NZART http://www.nzart.org.nz/branches/branch-data/ and an examination supervisor will set an exam for you at a mutually convenient time according to the following procedure http://www.nzart.org.nz/exam/exam-procedure/. The exam is 60 "multi-guess" questions drawn via a software application from a question bank of 600 questions. The whole thing is available on-line http://www.nzart.org.nz/exam/download-e ... ion-files/
Recently I used the exam generator software to print out an exam for the local examination supervisor (his printer was out of action) and as a matter of curiosity sat the test myself. Two(?) hours is normally allowed, but I took 20 minutes and got 58 questions correct ... the two questions wrong were from not reading the question properly due to rushing through. One only needs to score 40/60 to pass and the number of applicants who fail are VERY few.
Good luck if you do cross the ditch.
