Note the drifting carriers, these are spurries from the local TV1 CH3 (62.240Mhz) which we have all been putting up with since the NEC solid state transmitter was installed some years ago. The video starts with antenna’s beaming JA, I then rotate them to SugarLoaf where the TV transmitters are situated, as you can see the crud is very strong throughout 6m. We also have a flick around the 45Mhz CH1 TV. The one on 45.2396Mhz is TV2 Mt Studholme and TV2 Southshore 45.250Mhz is TV1 Mt KauKau Wellington and 45.260Mhz is a TV1 translator over on the peninsular.
You will notice the dramatic change in noise level when the CH3 transmitter closes down (around 201am) You will also note Mt Studholme closed around 203am
Enjoy

Have a TS680 at work into a 5 element which is much closer to SugarLoaf and I can't believe how quiet it is now......ZL3MF wrote:Cheers RossZL3ADT wrote:Well done Mike, we can relive event.Hearing it once on air wasnt enough.
