A bit of work was done to the 10 GHz beacon this morning, we found a dodgy waveguide transition, duly replaced along with the feedline.
Looking for reports please.

I will see if I can hear it from Beechmont this weekend during the JMFD as I will be taking the microwave gear along !!!!VK4EA wrote:Looking for reports please.

I will setting up on Mt Coot-tha for both before and after 10 G transverter RX mixer changes, trying to sort out my 10 G deafness problem.
Speak up sonny!

Re: Brisbane 10GHz beacon - VK4RBB
I set up 10 GHz on my deck at home this afternoon. I have been seeing a falling signal strenght from VK4RBB 10 GHz over that last few months.
Today the beacon was easily audible here on 10386.440 but still weak. My imression was that it was stronger than when last heard but not by a large amount. It is hard to be more objective than that as there is no direct path from this QTH to Murrarie and the signal can vary by 20 dB or so from one day to the next depending on conditions. It has been undetectable here on occasion
I will keep observing
Thanks to all who participated in the working B for the repairs

Very well done. Thanks Peter
Re: Brisbane 10GHz beacon - VK4RBB
Great video.
Interesting to see the hardware that generates the noise I hear out of my speakers.
(After I check out what's on Peter's t-shirt )
I'm surprised there's a coax cable feed to the 10G antenna though, and not fed via wave guide (or a mast head system).
Of the 200mW, how much RF power appears at the actual Alford slot antenna?

Re: Brisbane 10GHz beacon - VK4RBB
We measured 3dB of loss over the 6 metre length of Cellflex. Estimated gain from the Alford slot is 3dB, so theoretically it's 200mW EIRP, we think
