Thanks for the link, something like this would be ideal for many stations looking for tropo paths.
While people could use an omni, this will be picking up signals (interference) from directions other than those that you desire.
Some people want to bridge the Bight path, others to New Zealand, and many more. If you can get a good main lobe out the direction you desire, and a bit of attenuation of rearward signals (noise/interference), then you stand to gain
