Worthwhile DSE 6M Amplifier modifications:
Replace the tank coils with much thicker wire (about 3mm dia). Existing ones get too hot to touch after transmitting for only a short time. A lot of power is wasted here.
Filter coils can also do with an upgrade to a thicker wire to minimise losses as these also get hot but not as much as the tank coils. Replacing filter capacitors with higher rated ones also a good idea. Can use bee hive type to fine tune filter.
End result is significantly more power output for the same drive level and input power by simply minimising losses in the amplifier. I can provide more specific details if needed.
