Good on you Doug ('4ADC) and Peter ('4EA) for your reports on yesterday's SEQ Microwave Activity Day.

What a stupendous weather day it was! Just glorious (excuse the pun...!) but sorry that trees and foliage were playing havoc with your microwaves!

For the record, here is a list of the callsigns that I was aware of which were 'on' the different bands:

1296 MHz: VK4EA, VK4UH, VK4JE, VK4CDI, VK4CRO, VK4ADC, VK4VDX and VK4OE (all in QG62 except Phil 'CDI in QG52 and myself in QG61).

2403 MHz: VK4UH, VK4TJ, VK4EA, VK4ADC and VK4OE (All in QG62 except John 'TJ in QG52 and myself in QG61).

3400 MHz: VK4ADC and VK4OE (with VK4CDI and VK4EA "nearly but not quite successful" with contacts).

5760 MHz: VK4ADC, VK4UH and VK4EA (with VK4KJJ on the side!) and VK4OE.

10368 MHz: VK4UH, VK4CRO, VK4IIO, VK4EA and VK4OE.

Yes, a lot of fun and some useful learning experiences were had by all!

Here are a couple of pics from my camera:
A general view of the VK4OE portable set-up near the "Best-of-All" lookout at Springbrook, QG61PS. No, the steel tower is not for amateur radio! And that 5.7 and 10.3 GHz dish is purposely small to avoid its aiming being overly sharp. The 24 GHz dish and tripod were set up (on roof rack) but not used....

A look in the general direction of Brisbane from this location. No, the chain wire fence doesn't appear to significantly degrade the 3400 MHz signals from these loop yagis!

Did any other fellows take any pictures of what you were doing yesterday?

Best 73 to all!

Is the label on the 'IF Switching Unit' correct? It shows 2304 :(

Iain,

You know I almost put a caption against that photo to say 2403 and not 2304 but didn't get around to it. Now I know that I should have - and will go back and add that detail.

It was a typo when I was making the label artwork and I didn't notice it until after the label was adhered to the front of the panel. I will eventually make another label for the simple reason that the LED near the 2304 label is the PLL unlock for the 2.4/3.4 transverter box and it is completely unlabelled. I'm not going to hurry as there are likely to be additional LEDs etc on that panel as I work towards 5.7 and 10GHz.

Too bloody attentive :D
