SK: Keith Malcolm VK1KM

Post by VK2ZRH »

From Ian Cowan VK1BG on the VK-VHF Reflector 14/10/11, 7:54 AM:
Keith Malcolm VK1KM.

I have today been advised by his wife, Lesley, that Keith Malcolm, VK1KM, passed away suddenly at his home yesterday.

This news came as a dreadful shock, and I am sure that we will all be saddened by it.

Over many years, Keith has been a major advocate for the WIA and Amateur Radio in both national and international forums, and became very well known for his efforts. He will be sorely missed by his many friends.

Keith is survived by his wife and three adult children.

73,
Ian Cowan, VK1BG.
Like everyone else, I am shocked at the news.

Keith was a gentleman's gentleman, with a wry sense of humour.

In true Amateur spirit, he was always willing to share his knowledge and experience with others. I will be forever grateful for the assistance he freely offered to me on occasions when I wrestled with some technical issue or other.

I believe his work for the WIA was invaluable and his loss to the Institute will no doubt be keenly felt.

I enjoyed our discussions at GippsTech Conferences from time to time.

I feel privileged to have known him.

It's a tragedy that he has gone so soon.

A brief biography of Keith, and his work for the WIA locally and internationally, is on the WIA website, here:
