WSJT 8 - Tropo tests please

Post by VK2KRR »

G'day

There is a new version of WSJT that has been released. Its not compatible with
the previous versions. Supposed to be better than the old of course.

Im looking for stations, VK5 in particular who might like to try this new
version out on 2m, 70 & 23cm. Particularly those who I have tried JT65 with
before.

Please get in touch and we can organise some tropo tests.

You can find the latest WSJT8 version here http://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/K1JT/wsjt.html
Also the new user guide.

Hi Leigh,

I downloaded it out of interest... I see in the new version that FSK441 is gone, as is JT6M, and the JT65 modes gone also too.

I am wondering how many will be now 'dyed in the wool' and reluctant to give those original modes up, especially if they work for them. Reluctance to change and all that.

What are the new 'equivalencies'? If I want to operate MS on 2m, what mode am I now meant to coerce everyone to use?

Hi Leigh,

I have installed WSJT8 and it seems to be working OK. Look forward to some tests soon. The modes have changed names but are easy to figure out. The new JT664a mode does sound different to the old JT65 modes. JTMS sounds very similar to the old FSK441.

Rob, download the WSJT8 user guide to find answers to all your questions.

Garry, be great to try some tests with you. As I was saying to Jeff, your both in quite unique spots there.
