Hawaiian 6M beacon update

Post by ZL1RS »

E-mail this morning from Bert KH6HI:

With the assistance of KH6HAK the KH6HI/b 6M beacon was re-installed at the TV transmission site on 21 Jan 2010.
It is again operating on it's nominal carrier frequency of 50.065.
The beacon antennas are two stacked loops with the top one about 30' above ground.
The site is at 2500 feet ASL and has basically a clear view in all directions.
Bert reports - "Monitoring it at the home QTH, it seems to be performing quite well".

Hopefully the NH6P 6M beacon will be restored soon (it is off air due to a technical problem).
The KH6HME/b 6M beacon status is uncertain ... it is on air and audible locally, but may still have an antenna fault.

Fantastic news Bob.... it's great to see some of the critically important prop. indicators being returned. It wont be long and we'll hear it for sure. Also great to see Bert KH6HI is about.

Now just need a few more stations on their end of the path to be activated

Very good Scott,

I've asked Bert and Fred KH7Y for an update on the other KH6 beacons ...

... and will "rark them up" about getting on the air :!:

Hopefully having KH6HI/b back on will at least inspire Bert to keep the 6M radio on a bit more

Right, back to my 6M yagi construction project 8)

Adam, in the new Beacon page search function NH6P comes up in the "North America" continent group, yet the other two KH6 beacons appear in the "Oceania" continent group ... changing the locator from BK29 to BK29cb (Fred's QTH where the beacon is at the moment) did not do anything. Can it be placed in the correct continent?

Hi Bob
Thanks for heads-up.
Fixed the error in the NH6P listing.

Cheers :D
