Resurrecting a long dormant thread!
First of all, thanks Dave VK3HZ for providing a solution to the XREF-VS unlock situation with the TS2000.
And now my question: has anyone used the XREF-VS with their TS590s or sg??
TIA

Upgrade NOW Graham! By the end of the year, everyone will/should be on WSJTx v2.0.
Re: FT8 6m DX
FT8 has shown that openings can be very brief. Unless you run WSPR at 50% or more, I can't see the point. I used to run WSPR before the advent of FT8 and it was effective, but not so much now in my view. Not sure why you picked out VK6s in your earlier post Hayden....there were only two posts, one o...

On 7th July, received 3 EU stations...OE6MDF, OE6ANG and S51DI. Sigs ranged from -16 to -20 over a 3 minute period. No 2-ways, unfortunately.

Solar Cycle 25...how old will u be?
Conjecture, some science, doomsayers, keyboard experts. Even Amateurs have put forward when Sunspot Cycle 25 will happen!! It is alleged from certain circles (probably concentric! :P ) that the next upturn towards peak will commence some time in 2019 with an alleged peak around 2022. Regardles...

Re: Cheap Rotator Control Cable ?
Hi Brian, According to the 5400B manual, the no-load (cable NOT connected) O/P from the controller to the rotator motors is approx. 30VAC, and the resistance of each motor winding is 4Ω. From this, you could surmise a maximum operating current of approx. 7.5A. I would, and do, use the 7-core cable f...

Re: Microsoft update disables clones of the FTDI USB serial
Thanks all for the responses! On further investigation, the problem of the 60 sec device scan (as per Peter VK5PJ's remarks) disappears on the first instance of PTT activation via WSPR or JT65 etc. So I can live with that. To VK5PJ: I haven't played with registry keys to any depth Peter. I wouldn't ...

Re: Microsoft update disables clones of the FTDI USB serial
Hmm, I seem to have a similar problem with my Prolific USB-serial converter, or more importantly, the driver. When used to monitor my 10MHz GPSDO via Tboltmon it works fine! But when I connect to my TS2000 via the Ozi-Data interface (kit from MNCARG) it acts strangely! The USB-serial converter is re...

AngleLinear PA 50 (Lunar Electronics)
This is a bit of a long shot I know, but back in the late 70s I acquired a 6m preamp which was manufactured by Chip Angle and sold by Lunar Electronics (Lou Ancieux). It's a simple preamp in a small enclosure (roughly 2" x 1.5" x 0.5") and I would love to get hold of any specs/cct sch...

Re: 1296 in VK6?
Hi Chas, I'd really like to help but I won't be able to get down to the south coast in short order. I have 150W to 2 x 45el loop yagis which can be made portable, but commitments in Perth for the foreseeable future preclude me going portable just now. However keep me in mind for future possibilities!!

Re: Suggest a transceiver for Foundation Call
Hi Wayne, if you can find out what his max. budget is, then I think we'll be able to help with a number of options.
Without that detail it's a bit hard to offer any suggestions.

Re: VK4 Tower Regs
.... So as long as your mast is NO higher than 10m , GOOD TO GO! :D Not over here it don't! It's all well and good to have a State Planning Authority state that there should be no council restrictions on height per se. The problem still remains for those of us in suburbia where the various councils...
Re: WSJT-X
Hi Peter, Season's Greetings! I too run WSJT-X (the rc-1 release) and while I enjoy the ability to switch quickly between modes, I much prefer the "old" WSPR horizontal waterfall. It allows me to see weak transmissions that I didn't decode earlier (I'm not ALWAYS in the shack!! ) and...
