Re: Proper way to install heliax

""Very helpful info guys. The question now arises, should coax feed lines be installed the same way? My guess is that a lot of hams just lead them from the antennas to rig with perhaps a surge protector in the line. 73 Wayne VK4WDM"" I use a similar method on all lines because of...

Re: UV Stabilized cable sheathing

There are other colours , but to be sure use some 20mm conduite and it will be safe and secure , remember birds like cable and the conduit is cheapo insurance , paint it to what ever you need with some squiggly bits cans

Re: Attention hexbeam owners

Quick answer , much better than a dipole , some side lobes good front to back and modest gain , you can hear the changes comfortably when rotating it and can null out quite a lot of stuff , need not be very high either to be effective

Re: Rotator recommendation

Well either buy a much larger braked unit or make your own rotator , for around $100.00 purchase off ebay a suitable work gear drive industrial gearbox , add a motor and controller and like the one I built uber strong and wont rotate due to the mechanical design of the gears , no brake required

Re: Securing coax to colorbond roof.

The easiest way imho is clamps , which ones ?, well I use rubber lined clamps available from most anyone who deals in hydraulic hose , using the existing bolts holding the roof down meaning the cable will be held out of the trough and kept mostly dry and secure Basically a strip of metal with rubber...

Re: Free standing tower, Cardinia Shire council

You need to find out the council rules from their web site , you might have an out being rural residential and not have to comply but don''t count on it then if the tower has papers follow the council guide and pay the rip off fee , expect to be lied to because most council people have no idea basic...

Re: Icom IC-718 receive problem

When my first IC7100 died after an hours use Icom wanted me to jump through hoops and facilitate them cheating on the warranty , with no legal basis for them to try that the dealer did the right thing and the 2nd radio was fine , in this case I would think refusing to sell parts on that basis is ill...
