It's now probably close to 5 years since 23-on-23 Activation Events started. And whilst interest still exists and is slowly building [at least in VK2 - they were slow to learn], the overall level of participation remains low compared to the stated capability - just scan through VKLogger operator pro...

VK4 Activity summary [includes a 144MHz QSO] - unfortunately from comments, not all QSOs were acknowledged so what was achieved will remain unconfirmed [emoji6].

Correct Hayden - notorious for the spikes. You would need to be confident in being able to attenuate or manage the TX before using either as an IF... but whilst not impossible, the use of the FT-817 [as it can only deliver the max of 5 watts] is a more suitable/safer option.
