hmmm delays in the USA... what a chance alignment of the stars, we may actually benefit from a Trump twitter tantrum for once, now have to check if there is room on the credit card for a 9700 or be an onlooker.

Re: Please Mr ICOM I would like a IC-910 replacement
Hi Adam, well I think most of the wish list has come to reality but alas I think the separate keying lines for each band is something Mr Icom is allergic too but sooo easy to include.. I did notice the face book group has degraded to those wanting it for FM use or winging why their pet band (220) wa...

Okay, so USA time, 10th of Dec, WSJT-X 2.0 was made available, the majority of the earlier bugs seem to have been killed off.... You NEED to read the release notes FIRST, please do not ask questions unless you have read them, there are a few prerequisites like an extra package for SSL that has to be...

Hello RO, for a long time it was my go to O/S for PC but when they stopped improving it and Windoze leapfrogged ahead with applications that could not function on OS/2 (Win 95 and 98) it was hard to stay with it, I still have the disks and CDrom from "Warp 3" and had loaded it onto a moder...

FT8 version 2 is coming
Hello, some of you may not know but there is to be a NEW release of the WSJT-X software in Dec 2018 that will include new version of the FT8 and MSK modes that are NOT backward compatible with the current FT8 and MSK144. The big hit will be the new FT8 version 2 which has a longer transmitted payloa...

VK5RBV to come back at Full steam
Hello, I am happy to report that today I have received and paid the invoice from the ACMA for the updates to the VK5RBV beacon allocations on 50 MHz and approval for the addition of 144, 432 and 1296. At present the 144.456 MHz beacon is on at a 10 watt power level to a single 'PAR omni angle' anten...

Re: low noise solar inverters
Hi Wayne,
once the new inverter is up and running, can you please update this thread with its noise performance as it may help others in the future when they need to choose a new inverter.

please please no odd frequencies, the WIA have given the guidance that 144.320 is where we should be and a few of us have already made some good QSO's there. I am unsure if there is any similar guidance for our cousins in ZL but hope they can come to the party on 144.320. Do not pay heed of what is ...

Hi Wayne,
the fronius brand of inverter is also RF quiet, I had a SMA before that and it was RF quiet. Now the Bigger fronius inverters do have fans in them so if it is mounted on a house take that into account.

Re: Don't trust all SMA - SO239 adapters
Hi Tim, the use of an SMA on compact VHF hand held radio's has become common place and people often want to connect an external antenna to the hand held radio for use in the car or at home. Yes you are right, normaly it is an odd combination but needs create odd bed fellows :om2: Regards, Peter, vk5pj
