Re: 2m beacon to bridge Indian Ocean

Info today june 18 2013 on a local vk6 email thingy from VK6RK : VK6RIO is completed, operational on test but not installed at NCRG. The reason for this is there are no stations at the other end capable of receiving the Chirp signal. Phil VK6APH and I are working on this now and are hoping to have ...

Re: Where are the VK6's ??

During the WIA conference, the Peel Amateur Radio Group, The Hills Amateur Radio Group, Northern Corridor Radio Group and the WA VHF Group ( yes there actually is a thriving, active Group with that name) were active using the VI103WIA callsign from what I read. Mostly on HF I think including the VHF ...

You already know the answer Leigh as it's probably the same answer you have received previously. Activity seems to more HF based in the West. My excuse, I don't have any antenna's up at present.

Hey Rob, why not? Take several photo's and stitch them together as a vertical panorama. Not only for showing in here it would be a good image to save for your own records.

Re: Working RTTY "UP"???

Hi Theo, Sounds like the station is working split frequency. So if listening on 14.082 then up 2 would be 14.084 and up 7 would be 14.089. That would be my guess. I could be wrong.

Re: Ethernet over house power

I had limited access (otherwise known as poor access) from my shack to the main wireless router so I used one of these on my laptop and disabled the wireless on the laptop. Now have good access. My shack is not outside so don't know what range it has but there is the opportunity of changing the inbu...

Re: AIS Marine Tracking Sporadic E reports

Yes, some strange reports crop up from time to time. Like a cargo ship or tanker in the middle of Queensland which appeared a while ago. Don't know if it's false reporting from the ship or website errors. I don't know if it is possible with the SLR 300, to also configure to send the data to another ...

Probably any business you contact you will find helpful or unhelpful, angry or friendly people depending on who you happen to get on the other end, time of day, day of week, full moon or not. Unfortunately not everyone in a call centre knows all the answers and just make an on the spot answer. My ex...

Thanks Roger, thinking only positive thoughts in the direction of the beauracrats... A question for David... do the ones that you have come across have the transformer external to the controller? Mine has an external transformer labelled 30VAC- that was how it came. I assume this is a variation to ...

Re: AIS Marine Tracking Bight path openings

I have not had my PC connected or have been monitoring since Sunday due to being away. I have not seen anything in the past that would make me think a repeater is being used anywhere. Last time this came up was due to human error. The only way to know for sure is as Leigh said, to run software that ...

to find where to get these in melbourne http://www.gadgetcity.com.au/images/AT5713.jpg Don't know. Have you tried the retailers in Melbourne. Otherwise you might get them from Radio Specialists in South Australia. http://www.radiospecialists.com.au/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=67&...

Re: AIS - Using RX discriminator output

Ok, I set my PCR1500 to 162.025 FM, plugged a 3.5 to 3.5 stereo cable into the packet output socket on the back of the PCR1500, the other end into my very poor quality laptop mic input socket (According to Rob, read earlier in the thread) and this is how I had it setup on the ship plotter screen The...

Re: AIS - Using RX discriminator output

Adam, I assume you have looked at the wave patten in the signal window that pops up to see it is getting into the program and not clipping. Maybe that's how you know it was not clipping. The other mistake lots of people do is to forget to press the green button. I have a PCR1500 here so I will set m...

Re: eBayer sellers in Greece and Israel?

I suppose as with any ebay purchase it depends on how reliable the seller is but I have purchased an item from a Greek online shop and it arrived in about 3 weeks maybe a bit longer. End result I did end up with the item. A slight side track, I recently purchased an item from Turkey, with tracking n...

Re: First Antanna build

How about congratulating Andy on building his first antenna. Not telling him it's no good and build a better one. It's a big achievement when you build your first antenna and a pleasure to use it. In time he will soon understand it might not hear what others hear and then decide as the first one was...
