Re: Buddipole antenna's

You can now get an Aussie version - the Ozzipole. Its a kit being distributed by the Coffs Harbour club (I may be wrong here) and it was advertisied on VKHAM (<$100) It sure aint a gain antenna, but might get you on air quickly in a remote situation. VK4CZ/2 The webpage for the Ozzipole is http://w...

I currently have an M2 yagi model 2M9SSB (9 elements) which I use on 144MHz, it has a stated gain of 12.0dBd and seems to work pretty well but my station appears to be more effective on TX than Rx, I run a 100 watt amp with an Icom IC706Mk11G. You don't mention a masthead preamp...That would help w...

A alternative to Stauff can be found at DX Engineering - see http://www.dxengineering.com/Sections.asp?ID=1&DeptID=33#Top Yeah very similar and probably cheaper than Stauff (not knowing exactly how much Stauff are). Off the subject of Stauff and it's clones, last time I looked at a ATN Antenna'...

Re: Antenna Polarisation

If you wish to home brew some yagi with insulated elements Glenn just get Stauff blocks - VK4JMC set us onto them as an ideal way of mounting insulated elements. Hmmmmm..what a good idea...strange it never even crossed my mind. Have seen and used Stauff pipe clamps/supports in industry for a long t...

Re: Green Stamps

Hi, I have a pretty good idea, but I just want to clarify something... Can someone please explain to me what exactly a green stamp is when refering to QSLing? I have come across some operators who don't accept IRC's. Hi Theo...I think you will find they refer to Greenbacks...ie US One Dollar Bills/...

Re: Circuit mounted RF relays

Does anyone know a source of the 12VDC PCB mounted RF relays as used in the DSE linear amp kits, etc? Hi Phil, thanks for the info. Curious about the triplexer - I'm assuming one isn't needed for a radio with HF/V/UHF coverage. Presumably your using it for 2 or 3 different radios and PC? Then again, on a radio such as an 857D, where 6M uses the HF antenna socket I guess to save mucking around with ...

Re: Tri band verticals

Hello all. I'm looking for a vertical to simplify operating portable on 6/2/70 and also at some point to stick on the roof of the house. I'm considering either the Comet GP15 or the Diamond V2000. Both, on paper at least appear to be very similar (with the exception of price), but would be interest...

Re: GPS's with MaidenHead in them.

I have had a Garmin eTrex for about 3 years. It has Maidenhead readout as one of the options. I use it in the car and handheld and have no complaints. You can pick them up on eBay for less than half what I paid for it, brand new. Phil... Hey that's great - does the Garmin do the full 8 digit Maiden...

Re: GPS's with MaidenHead in them.

I have been looking to buy a small hand held GPS for general use. I am told that some have the MaidenHead (grid squares) format available in them as a display mode. I think its some of the GARMIN brand... Any comments from those who have used them? I have had a Garmin eTrex for about 3 years. It ha...
