Re: Wyong Field Day 2016 VHF-UHF-uWave gathering
Weather permitting, I will be in the 'fleamarket' tomorrow, with a car full of microwave related 'bits'. I have antennas for 5.7GHz, 14 element yagis for 2.4GHz, 5.7GHz transverters, 20 element yagi for 1296, 5.7GHz data radios with integrated flat panel antenna complete with users manual and softwa...

Re: HF isn't dead yet...
There were severe electrical storms here Thursday afternoon and night, and since then JT-65A on 21.076MHz has been pouring in from Asia, Russia and low parts of Europe!
There were still many JA's there tonight at 10pm local.
Cheers...

Re: Best place to buy SMD capacitors
Dion, back when our dollar had some respectability about it, I always bought my SMD components for my transverters from 'RFExtra' on eBay. for example... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/0603-4-7pF-C0G-50V-MuRata-GRM39C0G4R7C050AD-100pcs-/161515059315?hash=item259b0c3873:m:mBTaMYEphcPwer_HhcqONSw He has e...

Re: Show us your.... transverter
The 5W+ 10GHz transverter shown above is for sale, as are my other 4 transverters, including a 20W+ Tvtr for 3.4GHz. I have yagis, dishes and hornfeeds for 5 bands to 10GHz, plus other bits and pieces for making transverters, etc. I am getting too old to wait for "the bands to open" to her...

Alan... MSHV?
I cannot find anything like it... please explain?
Also I should add, I used screened leads for the interface... the radio lead is an old keyboard lead, and the tablet is an old USB lead which I bought (very) cheap at the local 'tip' shop.

Re: What's on your Workbench?
With the proliferation of cheap tablets for sale, and several 'Android' programs for Digital communications, I decided that a tablet would be more convenient than a laptop computer to carry around portable. So I searched for a tablet, and ideas to make a simple interface for it to my FT-817. I bough...

Search the old 73 magazine archives, they had a lot of articles about modulating Gunn oscillators (FM). Back in the '60s and '70s. There was also a column called "Ask Kaboom", if I remember correctly.

Re: What's on your Workbench?
VK2TXP (No name) There are several ways to make a signal source for 10368MHz. The easiest is to beg, borrow, 'steal', or even buy an old 5V crystal block from an old computer motherboard, with any of the following frequencies... 12, 24, 32, 48MHz. On the output of the crystal, connect a 100pF capaci...

If you go to page 8 of this topic, you will see an article I wrote about running a Trimble Thunderbolt on 12v DC. I removed the BNC connectors from the Thunderbolt PCB, and attached coax directly to the PCB.

Re: 10 GHz dish & misc parts needed
I have a 10GHz transverter for sale. It is surplus to my needs, because I have three of them (Tvtr's). I have had it advertised on VKHam for two weeks, with only 1 enquiry.
Anyone interested can call me on 0414 532496.

Re: Triplexer with single feed line
Hello Wayne In a previous life, I had one run of Heliax on my tower, with a triplexer at each end for 10, 6, and 2M. I made my own triplexers from designs on the web (there are many). You need good quality ceramic trimmers, capable of handling your output power (and more... the "fudge" fac...

Re: What's on your Workbench?
Adam, you could have bought your SMD caps from 'RFExtra' in your same purchase order. I have been buying my microwave caps from him for years, 100 at a time. They (the SMD caps) are in all of my transverters. And when I drop one on the floor, and it is gone 'forever more', I have spares! :D 73 Bruce...

Re: Chineese TCXO-9 for FT817/FT897
I fitted one of these TCXO-9's to the FT-817 that I took to Cambodia recently. While there, in two weeks, I worked 28 countries on JT-65A, with 242 contacts. Many times, I was working a 'pileup' on 21.076MHz (my call XU7AFA), and I could see any other station on the 'waterfall' which was drifting. T...

Re: Notch traps in HPFs
Nev Probably the easiest way would be two pieces of RG-58 coax, a quarter wavelength long x the velocity factor of the coax, at the desired frequencies across the input (filter or TV). If the coax is open circuit at the open end, then a quarter wavelength represents a short circuit where it is conne...

Re: Portable in Cambodia (XU)
Greetings everyone,
I will be on air as of now as XU7AFA, mostly on 15M... 21.070 PSK-31, and 21.076 JT65-HF, or 21.245 +/- SSB, as that is what my dipole is cut for... but I have a T1 tuner, so I'll see how propagation goes! I will try to self spot on logger.
