Hi Peter,
Thank-you for the update. I noticed the absence of the 2m beacon a few days ago when I was trying to do some receiver checks.
Hopefully the technical issues aren't too complicated and can be resolved fairly easily.

Re: 13 cm calling frequency.
Hi Peter, Certainly there are some peaks and troughs in that plot. I think the key thing to notice though is that around 2400 the plot is basically hitting the noise floor of the measurement system (almost 'flat-lining'), whereas if you look closely in the troughs around say 2402.2 and again at arou...

Re: 13 cm calling frequency.
I'd have to agree that adopting 2400.xx work terrestrial weak signal work makes a lot of sense. As VK5ZD rightly points out, the only amateur satellite that is currently using the band is QO-100 and unfortunately, the footprint doesn't cover Australia. Whilst its good to have sensible domestic band ...

Hi Scott,
I plan to be on 23cm (1296.1 MHz SSB) this evening from home (QG62LO) with 150w > 2 x 19 el yagis. I'll have the VKLogger running.

Re: 23-on-23 - Saturday Febrary 23, 2019
I've now got my 23cm equipment running using a G4DDK Anglian 2m intermediate transverter into a 28 MHz IF transceiver. I also expect to be operational on 23cm only from about 10:00z tonight from my home location (QG62LO). I'll have VKLOGGER running, as well as using an SDR for band monitoring. 73 Ro...

Hi Hayden, I've just realised that you have a parallel thread going on ahrdf.net, so I thought it sensible to post the same information here in case anyone else is interested. Nothing like reaching a wider audience :) Coincidentally this exact topic has very recently been discussed on the WA1MBA Mic...

Re: Gridpacks and focal point with yagi/biquad
Hi Jayson,
Most of the answers can be found in the information published by Paul W1GHZ (ex N1BWT)
http://www.qsl.net/n1bwt/chap6-2.pdf
It looks like the phase center (centre ?) is around 0.25 - 0.27 wavelengths behind the active element of the feed.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Rod VK4VU

Re: Back on 23 cm
Hi Len, Great to hear another new station on 23cm SSB. For the record I'm also using one of the SG-LAB transverters. Currently mine is driving a Mitsubishi RA18H1213 module to about 15w out. I have a reasonably good shot to the north from my location in the NW suburbs of Brisbane, and am looking for...

Re: 23-on-23 Aug 23, 2015.... and 2.4GHz plus activation?
Hi,
I also plan to be active on 23cm SSB only from my home station (QG62LO) on Sunday with 70w into 2 x37el DL6WU @ 16m.
I'll have the VKLOGGER / iCHAT running.
I'm looking forward to making a few new contacts on the day.

Re: The 3.4 GHz amateur band - it's future ?
Hi Roger, Thanks for pointing out that the NBN will be licenced under a PMTS B licence. I've since realized that my original posting (now edited) was incorrect and that the lower limits (more stringent OOB mask) which I referred to apply to a special case. If I'm reading things correctly, the genera...

Re: The 3.4 GHz amateur band - it's future ?
Hi, Edited posting follows > I can understand the logic behind wishing to adopt a small frequency offset (2 MHz) and operate just above 3398 MHz, but I think we also must consider the out-of-band emissions from any future spectrum licensed transmitter. It's likely that the emission mask for these tr...

Re: 2.4 GHz power amplifiers using WLAN 'boosters'
Hi, Thanks for the replies. In the meantime, I have also found an article by Roger G8CUB in the January 2014 edition of the UK Microeave Group's 'Scatterpoint' newsletter ) http://www.scatterpoint.org/ This happens to be the same unit that Graham VK3XDK modified (EDUP Model EP-AB003). G8CUB measured...

2.4 GHz power amplifiers using WLAN 'boosters'
Hi, I'm interested in knowing if anyone has tried using a WLAN 'booster' amplifier as a linear amplifier in a 2.4 GHz SSB transverter. My understanding is that the coding schemes needed for higher data rates use 16-QAM and 64-QAM modulation which should mean that high linearity is required. On this ...

UK Microwave - Martlesham Roundtable
Hi, I realise that this is rather late notice, but the UK Microwave Group Martlesham Roundtable is on this weekend, and is streaming via the BATC http://www.batc.tv/ch_live.php I just found it a few minutes ago - and it looks like there have been some technical hitches. In any case, I imagine that i...

Re: SG Lab 23cm Transverter - Anyone heard of them?
Hi Jayson, I also have one of these on the way. I must admit they look to be very well designed and assembled from what I can see. Incidentally, I inquired about a small change to the PLL programming to allow 1152 or 1151 MHz to be selected as the LO (rather than 1152/1150 MHz), since I wanted to us...

Re: 10 GHz Power Amplifier options?
Adam,
That's very interesting regarding the SSPA from DL2AM. I presume that this one can be driven directly from the Kuhne 10G transverter ?
Did you happen to ask the price of the higher power (24w) units at all >

Re: 10 GHz Power Amplifier options?
Adam, There is yet another source of 10 GHz amplifiers in Germany. DL2AM http://www.dl2am.de/pa1d.htm has a number of products available. It appears that the highest power 10 GHz amplifier generates 24 watts. There is no pricing information on the web-page however. Readers of DUBUS magazine would be...
