Re: What to select for a new VHF repeater?
Hi Peter, Not being a radio tech person, I will try and answer your muting question in layman's terms as I see it. I set our repeaters mute setting fairly fine. It accepts quite weak signals from great distances without too much bother- also from distant hand held radios on analogue FM. ( F call on ...

Hi Peter,
Yes, the DR-1X is from the Yaesu stable.
We bought from VK, but see this link for info.

Re: What to select for a new VHF repeater?
Just on 12 months ago Taree and District AR club occupied a new site(for the club) and as a result of problems with very old and failing FM828 repeaters on both VHF and UHF, decided to bite the bullet and installed one and then another DR-1X a few months later at their new site. With the cash back i...

Re: ZL2WHO Beacon on JT4D
Attached below is a part screen grab of the zl2who 23cm beacon signal on JT4F during this mornings opening, 6-10-2015 utc. I hadn't 'zeroed' out the RX noise setting at time of capture, but excellent copy. The beacon later peaked at -11 dB on JT4F And yes, I am located approximately 90 degrees off t...

Re: VK-ZL 1296 MHz Experiments
Having just looked up a list that I made a few years ago of stations that I have worked on 23cm on the VK-ZL path from my previous or current QTH within the QF68 grid square, here are some of the unique call signs worked. (Some many times over - over the years). My first SSB contact was with ZL1AVZ ...

Re: NBN Fixed wireless, experiences?
Had NBN installed on 11-11-14 after less than 1 week wait after having placing my order with a major ISP. Installer arrived within suggested time frame for attendance - he had driven up from Newcastle to do install, but had a 'lightning struck' replacement to install before he got to my place. (He w...

Re: ZL2IP SK
Sad news indeed. Ted had worked across the ditch on 23cm SSB on several occasions. I was honoured to have worked him on some of those tropo openings. His signal will be missed in VK.

I think you will find the VKxPyy series started early 1980's, as I held VK2PGA issued 9-1-1981.

Re: High Isolation Relays for 23cm
An even better relay than those mentioned so far is the HF 2000/6. Unfortunately it is no longer produced, but may be available on the second hand market - but I doubt it! I used mine for many years on 23cm and never turned off the preamp during TX as the relay isolation was sufficient to protect it...

Re: SG Lab 23cm Transverter - Anyone heard of them?
Hi Jason, As Simon has stated, don't be dismissive of giving lower power levels a try on the 23cm band. I have worked a number of different ZL an VK stations who have at the time been running 10 watts or less in power. The recent January VK-ZL openings saw ZL3TY from Greymouth and ZL1AVS (remote sta...

Re: Pre amp advise
The following are my thoughts only, based on my past and present station setups and experiences. 2m Band: On 2m I have played with or do play on 2m SSB, the WSJT suite of digital modes for Terrestrial/Meteor Scatter/EME contacts and have using CW for EME many years back.I had always relied upon the ...

Re: Logger Profiles Updating
Hi Matt and all, Yes I too had details on QRZ.com, but during the heat of DX I do not go searching on QRZ for operator details, I rely on this logger! The Logger is a terrific tool, and if more Logger user would just indicate on their own User Profile their current operating band status, it would se...

Logger Profiles Updating
Hi all, It would be appreciated by me and I am sure many others if all operators could update their personal profile on this logger. Many operators have chosen not to or have dismissed without thought, the value of other stations knowing what bands they operate on or have available. Revealing such i...
Re: WSPR 160m
When first installing D4, don't forget to disable the Windows inbuilt automatic time update feature that usually pings some US based network server, resulting in a few seconds of time delay. For D4, choose a time server as close to your QTH as possible, to minimise possible timing error. You should ...

Re: RF63 RF65 mid Jan 2014 report
A great enthusiastic effort put in again Stephen for which we in VK are very grateful. Without your splendid effort and dedication to DX together with the time that you sacrifice from your regular work, family and private activities, many a VK-ZL contact may not have occurred on various bands for ma...
