Hi all,
Philipp DL2AM sells a stand-alone aluminium enclosure for the Kuhne 47GHz IF pcb.
(They actually come from Hubert Krause of Micro-Mechanik).
Makes it possible to connect/dis-connect to mixer for 76 or 122 or 241.
Now to find someone to glue my mixer diodes to the mixer pcb...

Re: 76 GHz - any interest?
Thanks Iain
I'll be looking for a Uni Physics department which has microwave friendly technicians!
BTW my Procom dish arrived today, and yes, it is the same dish as the Procom 47ghz one, just different waveguide sized hole in the flange,
easy to duplicate the feeds,
cheers,
Dan

Re: 76 GHz - any interest?
With regard to mounting the sub-harmonic mixer diodes, thanks Peter for your info on Silver Epoxy. I have ordered some in a two pack configuration from a seller on EBay. I further read a full description in the 47Ghz transverter kit manual: Under a microscope, place a drop of Silver Epoxy on one sid...

Justin,
I have quite a number of feed-thru's here. How many do you want?

Re: 76 GHz - any interest?
Well, here I go! I have ordered some boxes, diodes, mixer pcb's and a pair of Kuhne pll oscillators. Now to get some sort of rf output, and then get some waveguide plus a couple of dishes. I am guessing that the Procom dishes for 47 and 76 are basically the same, with different flanges and feeds- we...

76 GHz - any interest?
Hi all, I thought it would be good to start a thread on 76ghz. There are a few articles around, mostly in German! Mixer and IF pcb's are available from Kuhne: http://www.kuhne-electronic.de/en/products/pcbs.html Philipp DL2AM has cases and most of the useful components, including hi-performance doub...

Merry Christmas to all!
Good one Dave, looking forward to a D-Star simplex contact on 23cm on 15th January. My id-1 has had only local 23cm FM use!!
cheers, Dan

Re: 3rd Sunday uW play dates
Hey Dave,
good luck on the path for 24.
Think I'll wait for next week. Had a "blow over" of a dish + 24ghz gear this week - much damage inc Jaycar power supply and possibly one Thales unit!
Hopefully be on 24 for next Sat. 5.7, who knows??
cheers,
Dan

Re: 3rd Sunday uW play dates
Hi guys, probably not quite ready for anything except 10ghz tomorrow. Next week end I hope to have at least one 24ghz Rx system working!! I would like to try out a site which might access to the north (ie Castle Hill Rd). Sooo maybe I'll leave it till next Saturday. Not sure yet. Where are others go...

Re: Thales 26GHZ - MUCH MORE ENCOURAGING!
7km across the Lake Macquarie LOS resulted in full scale Rx at each end. My Thales received an S9 sig with waveguide to waveguide. (IF was 23cm). 70cm Rx was nil!! Not very scientific Rx statistics, but you can't beat full scale, can you? Now to further decrease my Rx losses by utilising a Minikits ...

Re: Thales 26GHZ - MUCH MORE ENCOURAGING!
Thanks Andrew and Matt, yes, I replaced the controller, the other one was second hand, and I seem to be getting much better results - but not quite as good as direct coupling of IF, but certainly usable, especially on 23cm. I get full scale sigs from 100metres away on bare waveguide to bare waveguid...

Thales 26GHZ - MUCH MORE ENCOURAGING!
Hi Guys, SUCCES AT LAST! I have finally boxed up my Thales and re-tested it after seeing the good results from Dave VK2TDN and Matt VK2DAG. I am much encouraged. I found significant RF losses in the Rx leg of my 5EME controller! So I am in the process of re-building it. When directly coupled to 23cm...

Re: Phase Noise
Andrew,
upon checking my 10MHz source, I found a broken cable!
That would account for the drift. Better results next time!
cheers,
Dan

Re: Phase Noise
Guys, A new Kuhne LO has solved the problem! It injects 40mW - far more than the Elcom, and obviously less phase noise, or so it would seem. I now have two equally good receivers - In fact we set a new Australian Record of 58km for 47GHz!!! Woopee. It was a very weak signal, with fade and some noric...

Re: Phase Noise
Many thanks, Ted and Simon. I have swapped over the two Mixer modules - they are both pre-built, not kit ones. There did appear to be some improvement in received signal strength, but that was over a relatively short path, some 8km. The 32km result was that SSB offered some improvement in copy over ...

Phase Noise
Hi Guys, I have a question with regard to the effect on received signal strength of using a synthethised LO (Elcom) as compared to, for example a highly efficient and modern LO such as marketed by Kuhne. My two 47Ghz transverters each have a kuhne mixer/IF amp unit, and each use an FT-817 as IF rig,...
