Re: Hybrid Ring Duplexer
Thanks Andy and Dion, I have found some information on the web on them but not really what I'm after. I think I recall a construction article in AR way back when where someone was able to use 2 radios on the one antenna with minimal interference to each other and instead of using a cavity he used a ...

Re: Fring area TV antennas (Hills CA 16)
I had thought of trying to cut one down in size to be a phased array on 144. Peter The elements would need to be lengthened for 2M use by about 11inches each but the phasing would still be incorrect. They are factory set to around 200MHz so increasing each dimension by 200/146 or by about 1.37 woul...

Warning - Phone Scams
I have just had my phone line repaired after 13 months of mains hum and static on it rendering it all but unusable but remarkably ADSL continued to function all be it at a reduced rate and within 10 minutes of it being fixed I had a young Oriental sounding lady, ring with "your computer has a p...

Hybrid Ring Duplexer
Does anyone know a reliable source of information on the construction and tuning of Hybrid Ring Duplexer's of the coaxial type? I seem to vaguely recall an article in AR many moons ago, probably in the early to mid 80's but I have been unable to narrow it down to a year and month. Thanks in advance....

Re: Quiet week on the forum
Well here goes nothing:- I really didn't get into radio for the sake of talking to people, I got into it more for the technical side of things, the talking was more for gaining knowledge exchanging ideas and what ever. I don't do a lot of yapping or posting for that matter but am still very interest...

The KR600 has limits fitted, you could perhaps follow its wiring?
I have a circuit if you cannot find one.

Re: The Western HF10 antenna
I'm not sure if this is the w5gi antenna you speak off http://vk1od.net/antenna/W5GI/ but I can't help but think you would be better off with a w3dzz than that or the western hf10?

....Here is the February 1977 paper which I think may have been the last of the written response exams prior to the introduction of the multiple-guess tests..... Chas VK3PY Formerly VK3BRZ and VK3ZSG before that. I think that from what I can remember the last of the written exams were phased out at...

Re: coax across steel roof
My unconsidered thoughts are that there should be no effect whatsoever unless there is a feedline radiation problem and if there was such an undetected problem, as I know you would fix it if you were aware of it, the effect could go either way i.e. beneficial or detrimental depending on which way th...

Re: If not big and a yagi for 6M what???
Ray's rhombics were several wave lenghts long. The squares and rhombics we are talking about are one WL and can be arranged on a monopole to comply with the "vertical" requirement. Wayne VK4WDM I'm glad you cleared that up for me Wayne cause them big hooers are buggers to steer. Ray's rho...

A bit off topic seeing that wire is out but I seem to recall the the first Southern to Northern hemisphere and first Australian EME contact was made with a Rhombic on 6M by Ray VK3ATN way back when?

Hi Lee, have a look at the Vaisala web site, if you do no good there get back to me and I'll see what I can find. You could always go stick a reflector up on top of the big stone just over the fence and hit it with a laser from your place and measure the refraction on the path because as you most pr...

I have always found them very good excepting the last order about a fortnight ago. I ended up on the phone for about 30 minutes waiting for someone to answer and when eventually it was the person on the other end said she was not the right person to take the order but she would get the correct perso...

Re: Isotron small HF antennas?
I found this page via an eBay link. It is often said "Small size, high efficiency, wide bandwidth" There is nothing that I have seen on that link to have changed my mind on the accuracy of that above statement, call me a cynic or a pessimist (I'm both) if you will but as I see it a small ...

Re: My HF aerial works well because . . . . .
As already noted through the various posts but I will repeat them again. Regarding aerials:- One size does not fit all. Every aerial is a compromise in one way or another as it cannot be all things to all people. Different designs do some things better and sometimes even exclusively at the expense o...

Re: Give away: QST July 2012
I reckon I am on the above list!! I don't have a lot to say, because I'm a newbie but don't have a lot of time for radio (at the moment because of kids). I use this forum to learn, mostly about antennas for when I do get time. But your offer and the 3 rums I have just had have prompted me to speak ...
