Scalar mobile antennas

Anyone have info on some old Scalar mobile antennas that I got from the estate of my good friend dale VK4DGR, EX South Aus. The antennas are model no# SC2M, SC15B, SC15A, SC80R. Or close to that as the tags are old and faded. My best guess is 80m, 15m & possibly 2m but I think it's the base for ...

Re: Icom IC-910H faults and fixes

Has anyone come across this particular problem I'm having with my 910H, Just bought second hand unused for several years. When I try to operate in Satellite mode on FM for the SO-50 Hamsat the readout starts scrolling down in frequency but only in FM mode if in SSB it acts as it should. I have check...

No markings at all and the balun is a long tubular one that looks a bit like a German stick grenade.

Re: In-line joining of coax

As others have said RG58 is a bit on the light side for the job. I see no problem with it being used on the lower HF bands but it's not suitable for VHF and UHF as it is way too lossy, and with regards to joining it you can use 2 pl259 connectors with a barrel in the middle with minimal insertion lo...

Identifying an HF 3 element Triband Yagi

A few years back I bought a second hand 3 element Tri-band yagi from another amateur but he couldn't remember the manufacturer. I have tried to identify it but after searching the "net" I still haven't worked out who made it. Description as follows: 3 elements with 2 traps per side of elem...

Re: RFI from Solar inverters! "Not happy Jan ! "

All is still going well with my Solar installation and no QRN from the system. I had been fortunate to sign up to the .45c FIT, but just recently my supplier has moved the goal posts- AGAIN! They still pay the .45 cents FIT only now they are charging $6 or more to do so. Give with one hand take with...

Re: RFI from Solar inverters! "Not happy Jan ! "

Hi All, I about to install a 2kw solar system with 8 panels and a Aurora PVI- 2.0 -outd au INVERTER. HAS ANYBODY HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THAT INVERTER? ALSO WOULD THE SUNNYBOY INVERTER BE BETTER FOR RFI ? THE INVERTER WILL BE ON THE OTHERSIDE OF THE HOUSE AWAY FROM THE TOWER /ANTENNAS BUT THE SOLAR PAN...

Re: Emotator Rotators

Thanks for replies. I need the rubber seal and a new electric motor as when the seal failed the H2O got in and well H2-Oh my goodness it sat in there for a while, killing the motor. The motor shouldn't be hard to replace with something similar but the seal is my concern, but I'm sure I could probabl...

Emotator Rotators

Has anyone found a supplier of parts for the Emotator range of Rotators? or come up with a home brew fix for some of the parts. I need to replace a rubber seal and an electric motor in my Emotator 103SAX, it's quite an old rotator that I bought in 1983 but I have been rebuilding it as it's used for ...

Re: RFI from Solar inverters! "Not happy Jan ! "

Well, a couple of years on and all is still good with my Solar installation after both my neighbors and my inverters were fixed by the manufacturer, all they had to do was add the RF filter kits to the inverters and the RFI was gone. HF is almost noise free, except for the Plasma TV's, local QRN, As...

Maki Denki UTV-1200 BII (23 cm Transverter)

Recently I purchased a second hand Maki Denki Transverter for 23 Cm, hoping to be able to come up on 23cm SSB via my 2m all mode as the Exciter Radio, it's got 1 crystal and unfortunately the separation for repeaters is too wide anyway for it so I guess it could only be operated as a simplex radio. ...

Bernie Did you mean the Heyco insulators - used for cable grommets? (as per pic) I used SB-373-4 6mm for 144 & 432MHz yagis, and SB-500-8 10mm for my previous 50MHz yagi! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1355005563.877673.jpg Thanks for the reply, as long as they do the same job...they look similar too, ...

Home brew 2m & 70 cm yagi parts

I am looking for some small round plastic connectors that are originally produced for Hydraulic hose fittings etc by ENZED and the like, but are quite useful for insulating elements that pass through the boom of home made yagi antennas. I can't remember their name or part numbers, so if anyone can h...

Re: How to stiffen a length of PVC pipe

You could slip a length of wooden dowel down the PVC tube and the seal the ends to keep out moisture, but why not use fiberglass rod blanks. I made a mobile helical for 80m with a wooden dowel length but it was too stiff, probably OK as a fixed antenna. When it comes to using PVC conduit for antenna...

Re: Trapped Tri-band antennas

Like I said I don't know anything about tri-band yagis, I know the traps are tuned etc and so I was thinking was it possible to use the directors and add them to make a larger antenna. I have made mono band yagis and successfully stacked them,I was just thinking about a use for the tri-banders, so l...

Trapped Tri-band antennas

I have several trapped type tri-band yagi antennas doing nothing at the moment, and I was wandering, would it be possible to use the other directors and a longer boom to create a 7 element tri-band yagi. I haven't had a lot to do with trapped yagis. Of course I would have to shorten the elements len...

Re: RFI from Solar inverters! "Not happy Jan ! "

I thought I might follow up on my posting 12 months ago with the latest news. 1. Due to the solar panels having discoloration issues Sharp replaced them all for me at no charge. :D 2. Due to the Installation Electrician getting it wrong when connecting the panels I missed out on any power that was g...

RFI from Solar inverters! "Not happy Jan ! "

Hi and thanks for reading and adding your 2 bobs worth and any help you may be able to offer. After taking up the Governments offer to have Solar Panels installed at a discounted rate last year we finally got them up in March of this year (2010) and from the moment they were turned on the HF QRN fro...
