Re: IC-410PRO AF out on mic socket
Hi Adam, Just wondering if you looked at using the 15 pin accessory socket on the board (where the OPC-1939 cable plugs in to) to get the necessary connections you require instead of the front mic socket? I've had success with soldering directly to the accessory socket pins on the IC400, rather than...

Re: VK Maritime Mobile
I operated "maritime mobile" from a Royal Caribbean ship last year using RemoteRig, a 3G modem and 3G mag mount antenna on the balcony railing back to my home QTH whilst in range of Telstra services. I also had a 2M/70cm handheld for use on board. I made sure I disassembled all the compone...

Re: VK6LD/p at Albany awaiting 2M & 70cms across the Bight!
Hi Ralph, It was a pleasure to work the Field Day contesters in VK5 & VK3 and give out some numbers. Hope it helped your score. I would be interested to see and more read about your RemoteRig setup if you have time to write something up on the forum or via e-mail. Hope to work you again on VHF/U...

Re: VK6LD/p at Albany awaiting 2M & 70cms across the Bight!
Hi Lou, Glad I was able to help out the Field Day stations with some contacts for the log and glad you guys were at the other for me to make the contacts as well. It makes the effort in installing and maintaining it all worth it. VK3BQ Andrew - I thought I was going to have to listen to my own voice...

Re: Codan 9350 ATU with IC-718 or TS-480S
Hi Adrian, I just had a quick read of the IC718 manual and the auto tune function looks very similar to the IC706. Refer to pages 28 & 46 of the manual. I remember also having similar issues with my 9350 when I first installed it. A momentary push of the Tuner button will switch it off or on and...

Re: Codan 9350 ATU with IC-718 or TS-480S
Hi Adrian, My experience is only with the IC706, but from memory there is an item in the SET Menu (also called the Hidden Menu) called A-TUNE STRT and another called PTT-TUNE. If your 718 has these, try experimenting with them. Also on the 706, the auto tune start button has a bright red LED and dim...

Re: Codan 9350 ATU with IC-718 or TS-480S
Hi Adrian,
I used this circuit for my Codan 9350 on my IC706.
http://www.qsl.net/vk3cat/MDRC/Links/7069350.pdf
Experimenting with the value of the capacitor changes the tuning key up time, but I found the 9350 does tune quite quickly.
Cheers,
Rob...

Re: 14.1 Mhz Beacons
I don't have a directional antenna so I only hear a few of them. It's really dependent on condx but generally if I hear a beacon I'll hear the whole transmission (3 tones). Generally only the ones in our region and sometimes the ones state side. Just listening to VK6RBP now and it's the callsign fo...

G'day Leigh,
I believe Bob VK6ZGN is lending a hand to getting the equipment running, but no ETA on returning it to service.
Unlikely it will be back in service this summer tropo season.
Cheers,

Re: VK6RMS 2m Repeater Status
Hi Leigh, The repeater has been repaired and was being bench tested. I believe there is also a 70cm link for WIA News & APRS digipeater also to go in at the site. I understand the APRS is right to go, but not sure about the 70cm link or its antenna. Mt Saddleback is located on part of a large ba...

Re: AIS Marine Tracking Repeaters
Hi Leigh, This link should find most of the AIS sites licensed by AMSA around Australia. http://web.acma.gov.au/pls/radcom/client_search.client_lookup?pCLIENT_NO=20000768 I can narrow down the list for WA by doing a search on postcodes (6000-6999) & frequency range (161.975MHz-162.025MHz) throug...

Hi Steve, On my Albany remote station I'm using iiNet 3G service (wholesale carrier is Optus). See: http://www.iinet.net.au/internet/broadband/mobile/ I am on the 4GB/month broadband plan and as I'm already an iiNet customer, I get a $5/mth discount off the advertised price ($14.95/mth). No contract...

Re: VK7RTC - Mt.Wellington Repeater
We have various repeaters in Tasmania that are 123Hz. We have never had any of the false decoding problems encountered in VK3. Same here in VK6. It must be something in the water in VK2/3/4. :D On a serious note, VK6 was never invited or had a chance to comment on the shift from 123Hz to 91.5Hz as ...

Freight on the 1N is $81.90 and freight on the 2N is $53.82. (All prices in $US) I have always had good service with items purchased from DX Engineeri...

Re: VK6LD/p at Albany awaiting 2M & 70cms across the Bight!
Hello All, Last Saturday, I made a one day 800km round trip from Perth - Albany - Perth to make some adjustments to the Remote Rig, the 3G modem/router and some software updates to the devices. It was a long day, awake at 4.40am, on the road by 5.30am and back home to Perth at 6.30pm. Hopefully the ...

As one of those mentioned having a remote station, I feel my reasons for setting up & operating it are purely genuine/legitimate. I'm not a contester, DXCC or grid square hunter. I'm not in it for the glory or the certificates. I do it to have a chat with operators in the eastern states and give...
