Built a number of YU7EF yagis for 2m. All 6 of them I have used glue lined heatshrink. Obviously adjusted element length to reflect the mounting method. VK4TI, maybe yours is a STOLLE brand rotator

VK5TX, There maybe adjustment (end of travel adjustment) pots underneath or inside. May just have got out of range, and hence can only turn one way. Just a guess.
