Here's a couple more operators from team VK3ALB/P over the weekend. As usual, while most things went well, we came away with some more ideas for improvement & elimination for next time. Thanks to all those that we worked, especially the microwave stations.

Lou, Another 24GHz qso would be useful and perhaps we can make a genuine try for 47Ghz. CU Peter VK3QI (VK3ER/p) G'day Pete, if you've got a spare FM rig with a vertical antenna, we'll have 439.225FM simplex running as a liason freq in the background. Call us on that. With a bit of patience each wa...

You'll find Panduit S/Steel cables ties are available in many sizes and suitable tensioning/trimming gun at all good electrical wholesalers. G'day Slim, excellent effort to get most of it all back up in the air and going again, although it sounds like 2.4G is going to be a loss for next weekend?? Ch...

Re: How far will an AH4 work from the shack?
G'day Nev, If you're in doubt and if you haven't installed your cable run yet, you may wish to consider using decent sized 5-core trailer wire. It's probably more suitable to outdoor use than most UTP /Cat5/Cat6 cable too. Interesting topic. I've been planning on doing similar. I plan on installing ...

Re: License Issue Timescales
Nik, The issue is that amateur repeater applications go through an ACMA assigner- that is where the delay is because ACMA don't want to fund this service. The poor engineers in Canberra doing this deserve a medal... There is nothing stopping you or anyone else from using an ACMA "accredited pe...

Re: License Issue Timescales
To update expectations those that have applied for repeater licenses in recent times, here's my experience... Submitted application to WIA in August 2014. Received advice from ACMA today that whilst they have now received my application from the WIA, my repeater license probably won't progress for 4...

Re: Free WIA membership for assessors
Everyone else in the food chain except the assessors are getting a piece of the action. It is the assessors (and also trainers in many cases) that are often doing lots of the training, the legwork, the numerous hours away from home, the travel, etc. There's a lot of work required just to qualify to ...

Re: RO57 and RO77 Data
Hi all, Another tip for those filling these out for the first time... you MUST fill out the technical information relevant to your application. I have had a few people ask if they could leave details like antenna type blank- if you look at some existing licenses on Radcom it comes up "Antenna ...

Holding on to at least 3400 - 3405 would be a nice compromise, but then again, I could be in La La Land.

VK3RGL & VK3RGC P25 repeaters
G'day all, In addition to the RGC 70cm FM/P25 repeater that was established a couple of years ago now, a new dual mode FM/P25 70cm repeater has been established at VK3RGL Mt Anakie as of yesterday. In summary: VK3RGL 70cm rptr Mt Anakie (approx 25km north of Geelong) 439.500MHz the FM repeater has n...
