Re: TS-2000X no tx or rx after full reset
Hi Andy, first thing I would do if it was mine, is another FULL reset but do not load any settings from before, check radios operation in this 'naked' state, there might have been a corruption in the saved setting and it may have tried to set a weird IF offset to the radio or corrupt and RF path to...

TS-2000X no tx or rx after full reset
While troubleshooting an issue with no audio o/p on pin 3 of the ACC2 connector, I decided to carry out a full reset. I then used MCP2000 to reload memories, menus etc. After disconnecting the PC to rig connection, I re-powered the rig and all memories/menu settings/functions appeared to be present,...

Various views on when Cycle 25 happens
I was going to add this link to a post I started back in 2016 asking hams how old they'd be when Cycle 25 started in around 2022. Unfortunately that thread degenerated into off-topic blah blah so I've decided to post this in a new thread. https://www.spaceweatherlive.com/community/topic/1524-solar-c...

Society has dumbed down. <snip> Re the dumbing down of society, I couldn't agree more. I believe you've accurately expressed the feelings of many, Adam! I'll not plagiarise you but I'd like to take the core of your post, prior to the emoji, and couch it in my own words and then spread it to other (...

<snip> It is a weak signal mode and was designed for the use of low power. But we still see people who think running 100w or more is common practice. Using high power defies the whole point of a weak signal mode. <snip> Robert VK4LHD Yes, it is a weak signal mode, but that doesn't mean the tx stati...

Re: Video: IC-9700 VHF/UHF/1200 MHz Base introduction
Andy, your 20 year old boat anchor will not be competitive in MDS and blocking dynamic range. Period. But yes, separate PTT lines in the IC-9700 would have been nice. <snip> I can't argue that Adam.....but for my requirements it does an adequate job. As does my TS590S, but I'm currently un-e...

<snip> Compare that with the 20 year old technology of the TS2000X where you get 5 PTT lines with individual power controls for HF, 6, 2, 70 and 1.2 Those Kenwood Engineers from the late 90's really knew what they were doing! ********************************** <snip> Cheers Peter VK3QI Off topic I ...

except we are working sa with jt65 ft8 has taken some qrm away from that. To some small extent... like wspr it has its place and is a way of getting qsos if thats your thing. Isn't that what hams strive for....making QSOs i.e. 2-way contacts? pointless when signals are s nine. Agree. Though some ha...

Re: FT8 6m DX
I use WSPR to establish if there is any possible propagation on 6m (and to check for short paths) in conjunction with FT8 for contacts below the noise level. When signals start to become audible, I then switch to voice. Each to their own, it increases activity in some way at least. It's also probab...

Yet another good day with moderate Es (drop the apostrophe folks!! ) and almost all sigs here in the West were V2.
None of the sigs were suitable for SSB apart from one or 2 ZL stns which were particularly strong for a period.

Today most stations on 6m FT8 appear to be on WSJT Version 2.0 Good to hear Murray! Unfortunately we here "West of Everywhere" had no prop today, so I couldn't gauge the take-up. Someone remarked on the 6m iChat that V2 would need some evaluation. It doesn't need any more evaluation, the ...
