Re: strange screen shot
Since WSPR etc saves the audio file, why not run the audio of the "alien" signal (with X files starting again - i think the truth is out there and its an alien.... however) through another spectrum/waterfall program like spectran or Digipan or Spectrum Lab and see what results come from it...

Re: strange screen shot
Guys, i am going with the obvious. You are using a development version of software so probably a graphics translation artifact in programming. Could be similar to the BOM radar artifacts that are seen from time to time as straight lines. I dont know much about this particular program code, but if yo...

Re: Mixing VK & Dx calls on 50.110 is not working
Wayne having lived most of my life in northern vk4 i understand your problem. you can have tropo,E's and F2 all at the same time and the noise from north of vk including pirates, 49.750 etc can cause a headache to hear anything on 50.110 below s9+ - especially with the dog piles from our enthusiasti...

Re: Storm enhancement propagation on 23cm and above
Extreme dispersion of the signal this afternoon on both 23 and 13cm due to very intense hail storm. We received hail for more than 25 minutes and the sky was deep blue green!! Below are the respected traces for reference. The enhancement on the 23cm beacon was the strongest I have ever received with...

Couldnt fit any more pics in to the first post - but here are some 23cm related images which are the same as 13cm.

Storm enhancement propagation on 23cm and above
To open this topic again for discussion (http://www.vklogger.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9025&start=20&hilit=lightning) this time for microwaves ie. 23cm and above. I have been investigating and observing storm enhancement on 23cm and above. I have been testing with the vk4rbb beacon ...

Re: Tropo potential - VK4 <-> ZL
I have worked FK8 repeaters on 2m many times when i lived in mackay. path around 1500km. When they are in they are in for hours and hours. Accessible even mobile. However no-one answers your calls. Fm broadcast floods the bottom part of the band with lots of stations. Music is typically french with ...

Re: 23-on-23: June 23, 2015 - an alternative format
Thanks to all that made the evening a successful one. Plenty of contacts. To the north and Brisbane - VK4BG, VK4AFL, VK4VU, heard VK4CZ The east, southeast and southwest - VK4DH, VK2MAX and VK2XN All on SSB with and without airplane assistance when required. Completed digital contacts with VK4CZ. Th...

Re: NBN Fixed wireless, experiences?
Peter I have had my fixed wireless NBN for around 7months now. The installer was very good (old timer) and appreciated my preparation for his installation (eg. powerpoint, place on the wall for device, easiest place for cable run, location of antenna etc) Made his job easy and the result is extremel...

Re: 23-on-23 May 23, 2015.... and 2.4GHz plus activation?
Thanks to everyone that contributed to the afternoon and especially those that ventured outside in not ideal conditions. Although frustrating at times with trying to get contacts on a not so optimal day (blowing 40-52kmhr here), it can be used as a good educational exercise in finding new sites, pat...

Re: VK4RBB - Brisbane beacons back on air
Received this going into the warmest part of the day - which is proving for better signal quality into Brisbane through the mountains in the cooler months. Beacon is just audible at these levels. The doppler shift in the middle is AE from an A330 losing height over the greater Brisbane area - genera...

Re: Help! Tuning a 2.4 GHz helix
Adam as you say without butchery. The only thing I would start with is stick a match stick or other insulated item in the hole where the loop goes through - say at the 3cm mark and move the coil wire up or down Take a measurement. There probably will only be a slight change - but its the detection o...

Re: Adapt 13cm gridpack for 23cm? Advice please
1st photo shows the difference between grids designed for 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz - just for anyone interested. I think the difference is obvious. Tighter spacing on the slats. 2nd photo shows 2 different 2.4GHz grids. Here are some measurements but NOT highly accurate. Cast grids are good for repeatabili...

Steve
I have measured a couple of grids I have here. I will post some photos shortly with measurements.
However depending on the type / brand I am seeing a variation in the F/D.
I think the mainstay use 0.34.
However the one I use is 0.39. I also have others that are 0.36.

Re: Adapt 13cm gridpack for 23cm? Advice please
There are grids and then there are grids. I have tested numerous types 10 years ago for commerical purposes in 2.4 and 5.8 data links with low power. They had to work 24x7, survive wind, rain and salt air of NQ. Let me generalise here for simplicity. Grids that come with feeds using coax tails of RG...

Re: 23-on-23 - April 23, 2015
I should be available (family commitments permitting). I have only last week got my antenna operating from my new location just outside of Warwick. Unfortunately my linear has died (being assessed) during its time in storage over the big move from Mackay. The mountain range will be a problem for get...
