Re: LoRa WAN - Testing in Amateur Bands

LoRa WAN isn't WiFi. It's in 923Mhz ISM spectrum. It is quickly becoming the default (Internet version) of Internet of Things (IoT). Compared to Narrow Band IoT , which is the business grade version. While the carriers are thinking 5G and Google self driving cars, LoRa is being deployed for remote s...

LoRa WAN - Testing in Amateur Bands

I'm wondering if LoRa WAN protocols can be used on Amateur Bands for testing purposes.

The modules seems to be fairly frequency agile and it may be possible to get them running on 70cm.

Has anyone played around with it ? Would it be legal ?

Re: FS1000A 433 MHz SAW ASK transmitters

I've had this before from a Chinese Supplier.

I requested a refund from PayPal as it as not fit for purpose, not as advertised.

PayPal refunded my money straight away. No returns required. Just backed out the payment.

In my case I could fix the problem. So it really was a throw away.

Re: FT8 on 2m

So going back into the Log I have an FT8 contact with ZL4LV on 6/1/18 on 144.3218 RX was +01 The openings last summer where so short that only FT8 would complete in time before the path faded out. We started with JT65 but it takes too long. So it seems our NZ colleagues already have 144.320 as the F...

I believe the move to developing a STEM (where did the A come from ? ) program that can be rolled out across the relevant State Education departments would be one of the most valuable additions the WIA can make to the Education of our children. I for one will be there and will offer my support. A pr...

Re: Upcoming ARISS scheduled contact

Shane,

Do you have any pictures of your setup ?
From memory there was one of you standing in front of a small rack of equipment.

Can you share any pictures ? I'm interested in how you have developed your solution and how it hangs together.

Re: Electric Blanket EM Field - When it's turned off

Thanks for all who responded. To confirm, the field is there with the unit turned off, not just when operating. I'd be ok with it in that form, and it would make sense to induce a field when the unit is turned on. I'd just run it for a while to warm up the bed put the kids in , kiss them goodnight a...

Electric Blanket EM Field - When it's turned off

Hi, This is an odd post but hoping some one may know. I purchased the kids electric blankets this winter and find that when plugged in and turned off, they generate approx. 100 volt AC field. My child sits on the bed, with sheets ,blankets etc, insulating her from the Electric blanket. The blanket i...

I know I'm in NSW but this may be helpful.(or to someone in the future using the search function) We use a web site called the Electronic Housing Code. I had been working on my mobile yagi mount (for my Bunnings Special) over the last couple of weekends , interrupted by 400mmm of rain. IMG_0354.JPG It seems it may be all in vain as another East Coast low is due to spin up on Sunday with a further 150mm forecast. So as a fall back I'll use the home ...

Ok,

Being that it's all about how much metal you can get into the air I was feeling rather small for a bit then ... :?

I ordered the 30M roll of eBay from Victoria, about 11am yesterday, and it shipped that afternoon.
Should arrive before the end of the week.

Thanks to all that replied. You got love this forum for quick answers to life's little questions. :D The reason I asked the question is I purchased a Az / El rotator out of VK4 last week (they will probably pop up on the forum now and say hi) and the manual states the wire as being 2 x 6 core #20 AW...

Cheap Rotator Control Cable ?

Hi, I'm trying to source some rotator control cable and was wondering what people are using. I found some 7 - core Trailer harness cable, for re-wirign a box trailer at Bunnings today. It seems fit for the task but may be a little heavy. It certainly won't go through a rubber grommet on the rotator ...
