Re: Yagi Insulators - Suggestions ?

Well today was a day of adjustments. After moving the DE forward to the 470mm point , and a few cuts to the driven element it ended up less then 1.1:1 VSWR. The final D.E length was 981mm I first cut away the Choke I made yesterday and started with fresh coax connection with tails as close to right ...

Re: Yagi Insulators - Suggestions ?

Bob, I also woke in the middle of the night and realised that the choke is on the wrong side of the DE. I'll swap it over today. Also cam up with a way to terminate the cable on an N Type Connector mounted to the boom. I had never thought about putting a bolt into the end of the element as an adjust...

Well it was a long day but the result is good. IMG_0051.JPG A close up of the choke also showing a ferrite bead . I'll waterproof the connectors later. Re: Yagi Insulators - Suggestions ?

Bob, Very cool. Will have to find that software. So based on K7MEM web site I had the following data. Re: Yagi Insulators - Suggestions ?

Bob, I going to build two, the first with the old TV antenna parts and the second with all new parts and the Pertek clamps mentioned previously. The TV antenna version I'm making light weight and portable, with the boom able to be cut in half to get it safely on the roof of the car. Maybe put it to ...

Re: Yagi Insulators - Suggestions ?

I like the pirtek clamp option as I no longer have a a bench drill and drilling accurate holes that align correctly in a boom with a hand held drill is problematic. I got under the house today and found an old TV antenna (forgot it was there) and stripped it for parts and it raises a number of issue...

Re: Yagi Insulators - Suggestions ?

Thanks to all who responded. Enough to get me started..

The black plastic irrigation hose joiners sounds interesting.

Can someone expand on the concept there ?

Thanks

Re: WSJT-X

Peter (VK5PJ), Thanks for the suggestions for changing the waterfall setup. It gives a much better view zoomed in , but yes, it's a hassle when you change modes. I previously ran WSJT-X and WSPR at the same time, listening to the same interface (SignaLink) , and then jumped between modes. This new v...

Re: WSJT-X

I'm running WSJT-X v1.6.0-rc2 (on a Mac) and would like to know how to change the scaling of the waterfall. As this version changes modes it does not change the waterfall scale, so when using WSPR you still view the 0 - 3000 kHz waterfall bandwidth, when you only need a small component of that. The ...

Re: Fiberglass Pole - Where to Find ?

Thanks for the responses. I purchased one of the Aldi extension roller poles but then realised it wouldn't work as the centre extension section was Aluminium. I've put it to good use painting the ceiling. I'm rather annoyed that I had about 4 of the Windsurfer poles and tossed them out in a council ...

Fiberglass Pole - Where to Find ?

Hi, I'm looking to find a source of a Fibreglass pole that I can mount a 20 element 2 Meter Yagi on. It needs to be fibreglass or PVC so as not to interfere with the vertical elements. I used to have one of the High Tension Power line spacers that was about 4 meters long but lost it some time back i...

Should be a good signal into ZL right now.

At 10 degree elevation in Sydney noise still too high to get a picture.

Re: PS-46 PICO balloon HF payload WSPR JT9

I notice PS-46 is heading north and approaching the equator.

I thought the winds didn't mix between hemispheres ?

Could PS-46 actually cross the equator ? That would be interesting !

You have done really well and got some nice pictures.
I went through the lot and think the following is rather good.

Not a bad outcome at all really ...

Re: PS-46 PICO balloon HF payload WSPR JT9

Andy, I'll just have to tell the wife I need a new PC. :D The Mac was a choice for Family PC, very young kids just click away, plus it works well with Phones and iPads, and all the Family Photos etc. Did a deal with a mate and got it cheap. Could always make it dual boot if required. Speaking of Pho...
