Re: Windows 10 and digimode programs

We think we have problems. Country Cousins are on NBN satellite solution which is limited to 20GB per month. (you cannot buy a bigger package, seriously) The Win 10 upgrade kicks in, uses up the last of the months allowance, drops back to some ridiculously low speed, and limps along for another 2 we...

Re: HELL on Tuesday!

Thanks David for sticking with me tonight.

Made my first SSTV contact, using Oliva as the back channel.

Olivia beat SSTV on the marginal signals tonight.

See U next week. (ha....pun about Hell .. :D )

Re: Internet dropping out when TXing

I have touch lamps in the kids bedrooms. Every time I transit the house lights up !! I found the best solution was 7 meters of RG58 wound on a 90mm plastic stormwater pipe. Plastic cap for each end . all up $5 from Bunnings. Before I sealed it I slid 3 or 4 ferrite beads over the coax (from Jaycar)....

Re: HELL on Tuesday!

Compton, You didn't come up ? You would be 60+ to me on 40m as you're just down the road. Next time let me know and we can try some of the more obscure data modes available. We could do Oliva on 2 Meters at that distance. I'll like to try SSTV if anyone is interested next time. Brian VK2XTC

Re: Low cost Maggy Lamp from Aldi

For those who cannot get to Adli.

The same thing is in Bunnings today for $70. It has a goose neck making slightly more useful.

It had a smaller high mag area on the lens. For increased magnification.

John (VK2DUX), I missed last night , didn't get home earlier enough from work I'm setup with what sounds like a similar environment (Signalink and Mac). I did some testing on Sunday before the broadcast but could not get a response. What other frequencies are in use other than 7.177MHz And can you c...

Re: HELL on Tuesday!

Paul, I had to leave quickly so sorry for not hanging around. It was the first time I've used hell and it's interesting. Very clear signals from you with little actual received signal. I'll try to log in again next week and afterwards try a few more modes that remain unused on FLdigi. Brian VK2XTC

I received a SSTV picture from the International Space Station on the 11.00am Australian pass yesterday on my smart phone, using my Icom handheld to receive the signal, using a halfwave vertical antenna.
How did you do that !!

More info please ...

When you guys work out a schedule can you post it back here. A number of us would like to have a go also. How about something like "Digital Sunday's" , after the Meteor Scatter guys finish, at about 9am Sunday Mornings on 40 Meters ?? I've tried Calling CQ using Oliva but no one answers . ...

Re: Mind programming using microwaves

Here's a picture I took from many years ago.

It the beam alignment brick on an 800 Watt CO2 Laser.
Made the rest of the beam path safe and stopped you loosing your limbs while aligning mirrors :)

It's a standard house brick.

Re: Olivia on 6m

Phil, 50.225 would be too close to the Meteor Scatter freq. of 50.230 . You and I made contact on 50.090 , which is close the the suggested freq from the link supplied by Crompton of 50.086.5 but that falls outside the suggested window in the AU band plan for digital DX modes of 50.220 to 50.240. So...

I worked Phil (VK5RM) on 6M on 31st Jan this year on 6M.

Couldn't see it on the waterfall but it still decoded.

If someone was to call CQ on 6M using Oliva , What frequency would they be on ?

I'd like to add something to my previous post as this thread seems to have a negative flavour towards the CCARC. I'm sure it's not the intention of writers, but it could have been misinterpreted by some. That was not my intention in my previous comment and so to correct the record I'd like to applau...

ISS clearly Visible over Sydney Tonight

The International space station did a pass over Sydney tonight and was clearly visible in the night sky as it raced over head. It was brighter than the Aircraft lights on planes landing at Sydney Airport. Much Brighter than the southern cross for the bulk of the pass. Was wondering if anyone has tri...

Re: Wyong Field Day 2016 - Impressions

With reluctance I have to agree. This hobby is dying, and it was really obvious at Wyong this year. As I sat having breakfast and coffee (About 10:30am) in the food area, I realised I had covered the entire place and seen everything in less than an hour. Most frightening was at 52 year of age I was ...
